Lloyd90
Right then, I got my permission on the local golf course FINALLY sorted :o I got the form photo copied and phoned the local police station. They said to fax/mail it in and they would add it on. I asked them when it would be ready and I told them the address and the calibre of the gun, they said it would be ok to go tonight as I have permission and the land is all suitable Gave the course manager a bell to check its ok with him, IT WAS He also told me If I see any crows to give them a bashing because they keep pinching all the golf balls haha Picked up a lamp n battery from a friend ( Cheers Bap ) and picked up 2 friends of mine that wanted to come along! After having an epic laugh at one of my mates who's coat looked like a WWII Trench coat we set off. After walking for about 30 minutes we still failed to spot a single rabbit They have just had mixy up there a month ago so the manager said I'd have to wait a month before anyone was allowed to shoot it Hopefully numbers will pick back up! Anyway's by the end of the night we had spotted 2 rabbits. 1 ran off before I could get it in the scope and the other I underestimated how far it was I reckoned it was about 60 yards or so but after walking it to see incase there was a wounded rabbit there was nothing Damn 22LR Makes me wonder if it had been a 17 HMR would I have made that shot ? Would of been a hero instead of a zero bahaha! Me n my mates really want to shoot n give rabbit a try Hopefully I'll have better luck next time

MM
Hi Bigthug, hope your having fun with your new kit As you have mentioned, it sounds like you are new to the rimfire lark. As i aint got one yet, did you have much trouble getting your FAC with little experience? Although im no expert, i like to think they will grant FAC on that fact of what you are like as a person, and how sound your mind is. Sorry for pciking your brains, but i would like to be ready when "the man" comes to visit.
Billy.
Just make sure you remember that it is good practice to ask the land owner if you wish to bring other people with you, as they will get quite a shock if they drive past you on a quad/golf buggy and see a small party out shooting a rifle. Maybe you should consider asking if you can borrow a buggy, otherwise you'll be walking miles and miles for a couple of potential rabbits. Good luck

Sorry for pciking your brains, but i would like to be ready when "the man" comes to visit. No worries mate, sure I've asked my share of similar questions here. Yes mate it is great fun, although we were a bit disappointed by not getting any rabbits it was still nice to be out n about with some mates I first started shooting about 14/15 with a £25 air rifle I got down the market, a chinese springer. Although it was pretty crappy, I have to say it did a good job of knocking cans off my fence posts (There WAS a safe backstop ) lol When I first joined this site I looked for people around by me to let me sort of "have a go" at shooting, Luckily for me after about 2 weeks of no luck I got a message off BOTCH Cracking Bloke who took me out shooting and showed me all about safety and showed me to shoot his CZ 17 HMR (Thanks very much BOTCH) I then put in for a SGC as he told me this would be easier at first and you have to sort of build up to a FAC (although you dont have to) Well I had some fun with my shotty although I recently sold it as it was only a cheapy When the FEO came round I told him most of this, been shooting air rifles since I was 14. Recently got a SGC and now after being out with a friend would like to have a go at some rabbit control The FEO's are great blokes (all mine have been anyway's ) As long as you have a genuine reason for one I cant see them saying no, ALTHOUGH he said had I wanted a centrefire rifle I would of had to put down a mentor, I already had someone lined up just in case. Although I only put down for a 22LR and 17 HMR so I didnt have to
