libs
Won't hurt your dog, but show your parents the rabbit, and anyother dead ones you find, no eyes etc. Then explain how thinning them out every now and then is a much better fate than the mixy. You might find they will be more inclined to letting you take a few.

evilstoat
mixy just looks bad and can't be transmitted to dogs or i understand humans...but liver fluke would harm them...i would make sure you disinfect your hands after touching them just in case, if they do have liver fluke this could be passed on to your dogs or you. not trying to scare you but i have seen a lot lately with liver fluke
Billy.
No, mixy is so specific, it wont even affect hares. (How's that for a man made drug!) My permission has been hit hard by mixy and I am truly disappointed. Obviously I shoot the affected rabbits, to save long and painful death. However it takes the sport out of shooting rabbits.... Oh and according to a butcher I know, it is perfectly safe to eat a mixy rabbit. (I might have even sold him a few after he said that) Edited December 18, 2008 by harfordwmj
Baldrick
Roughly a third of all rabbits I'm shooting at the moment have got myxy.

Yes shame they can't come up with one that'd sort out those space wasters being discussed in the Off Topic section, eye opener and rant! MM
have your folks every seen the rabbits looking like this? if so, they must be pretty heartless to let them suffer in this way. if it is the issue of useing an air rifle in their garden, do it on the sly.
