Billy.
Yesterday Garyb and I (and daisy his dog) popped to a new favourite spot for a bit of pigeon popping. We thought we were going to hit the jackpot by getting in and ready so early. Gary had managed to source a mixed batch of batteries, which on the label, looked like they'd keep a magnet going for hours and hours, but some were prone to running out quite quickly. I pulled the short straw and had to carry the heavy things there and back We set up with 2 magnets, about 20 decoys and 3 floaters and I brought my O/U this time, giving my Semi Auto a break. We got fully set up and waited for the birds to start piling in - it didn't happen... Fortunately the ones that did come weren't bothered by the pattern and came right in to land without spooking. The other matter was if Gary could hit them - the sarcasm and winding up started here. I was having a right old laugh watching him miss almost 'sitting ducks' as the wind was so strong that the pigeons were stopping in the air just before landing. Anyway, after plenty of joking about, Gary's gun jammed (cartridge got stuck under the ejector) and then the birds started coming in. Unfortunately they did spook and non were hit After all my joking, it seemed it was my turn to take the flak... I had a sudden loss of accuracy and Gary picked up on his earlier losses - the joke turned on me Anyway, after a challenging day of praying on flocks of birds to turn (but only the back ones are interested, but want to stay with their mates) it was a thoroughly enjoyed day, which turned a bag of 34 (31 collected) I'm sure Gary will have some feedback to let you all know about my complete loss of accuracy EDIT: I would also like to pass on my thanks to catamong for kindly dropping a banger rope off for us. It was a great help! Edited December 23, 2008 by harfordwmj

garyb
Catamong was kind enough to provide us with one of his Banger ropes... To be honest looking at the flock that got off a neighbouring field each time it went bang - I think we would have struggled without that Edited December 22, 2008 by garyb
