Scope glare when lamping

I have a Lightforce 170 scope mounted lamp on my styer with S&B 8x56 and T8 mod. I seem to get terrible glare reflecting off of the moderator on to the objective lense which make the image impossible to look at. I've moved the lamp about 1.5" above the existing mount to try to reduce this but with no success. I've since put a piece of tube above the front of the objective lense which seems to illiminate the glare. The piece of tube extends about 5" from the front of the scope, this is not ideal. I've seen scope sunshades which i guess would do the same job properly but i need one 5" long.

Does anyone else have this problem, and or remedies to solve the glare.

Any help much appreciated

The lamp i take it your on about?

no the scope :good: just try 1/2 inch to start, or if still have a prob a bit more, you will find that it wont affect your view through the scope.

i had the same problem. i tried the other suggestions but the tape on the scope was the only remedy
