Also greetings from across the pond,I havent even met anyone who decoy hunts for pigeons, supplies are hard to find here.Almost only ferals ,a few places have a season on bandtail pigeons. Cranfield
I know the item you refer to and dismissed it as another of the gimmicky devices that are knocking about at the moment. The rotary device and the electric flapper are top of my list in the "electrics" division, but the floater/bouncer is a great tool for adding movement to your layout. The rotary and electric flapper could be shipped to the US (I have no idea of cost), but the floater/bouncer can be homemade quite easily. Although you don't have any woodpigeons, you do have dove hunting seasons and most of the pigeon decoy devices work well with doves.
Blackbart
Sillosocks come from the usa !The best crow decoys come from there too and like has been said what works on pigeons will work on doves and vice versa
ironhorse
I have seen these on flybay, Quite honestly I’d save your money, there’s no way I would pay what they are asking
rheth
i too have seen them save your money wire coat hangers bent the right shape fitted to a shell decoy give just as good movement in a little breeze
Traztaz
I have found that far better than coat hanger is 1 cm banding wire like the stuff you see on pallets is the way forward, eeeezzzzeyyy mean anything?
ljtucker
Built my own pigeon magnet ,must have had polarity reversed ,everthing was 100 m high and climbing.Built floaters built bouncers ,Have been using a mojo dove and dove decoys with pigeon wings hot glued to thier sides. Sillo socks seem spendy for what you get, another company sells hand painted wood siloets for 8$and one other co sells full bodys for 6$ each. Most companies wont ship here or it costs you youre first born for shipping. Redditch
Any one seen the video for the magic mount pigeon decoy system. Is it known by any other name or is it only available on flebay.Looks really cool it swings the decoy back and forth and simulates pecking. runs on one aa battery,But no shipping to the U.S.A . Also greetings from across the pond,I havent even met anyone who decoy hunts for pigeons, supplies are hard to find here.Almost only ferals ,a few places have a season on bandtail pigeons. I´ve bought a set of them. You have to convert your own decoys for use with them (Think they also supply ready adapted ones, but expensive). They are expensive bits of kit for what they are, and are supplied with four reserve sticks (The motors are mounted on what looks like cocktail sticks, so just in case you break one they have spares). Haven´t got round to fixing them into the decoys yet, but will do so (Good instructions come with them), but like I said, expensive for what they are. Still, I´ll see how they work as the video is very impressive, and anything that gives an edge on an off day is worth trying !! They are availble (Mounted motors without decoys) for £ 54.00 plus post and packing for 4 on the Evil Bay under the heading Maigic Mounts item number 280746204079 Edited October 1, 2011 by Redditch
deny essex
If its pecking you want why not make ones as I make , Decoy dippas, I do not realy use any specialised tools and equipment and they are sturdy and rated by some as better than magic mounts , easy to use and adjustable for motion depth. Im sure you could sort a shell decoy of sorts , I have designed shell decoys in plaster and modeling clay in the past and have made fibreglass moulds from them and then shells from the mould, just trim and paint. Its all possible for the DIY'er.
stubby
as deny has said, a few hours in the shed, and the urge to save money, you can normally make anything for a lot less, mine cost around £5 or less to make http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLExGF97oYc
