redthunder
Alrite lads, just a quick tale of last nights lamping session decided to go out with the lamp and the rifle to try and thin out a few foxes on one of my permissions up in Maesteg. I'd spoken to the farmer about a week back to ask if many foxes had been seen & he said: 'yes the ******** had half my chickens the other week' I've not been up there much this year so i thought i've got to put a couple of hours in to try and give charlie some grief So i gave BIGTHUG a bell and Shaun and off we went. We arrived up the farm about 8.30pm it would take us twenty minutes to get to the top of the farm as its over 1000 acres of hill farm and the road (if you call it a road) is made up of rock and stone that would put some 4x4's in the repair shop (felt sorry for big thug he rode in the back no seats) anyway we made it up to the first ambush point and parked up the landy and got out. Shaun had a quick scan with the lamp and said he'd just seen eyes 90-100 yards up the bank :o ****e hadn't even loaded the rifle yet so i put one up the spout rested the bipod on the bonnet and scoped to check if it was charlie and it was but the clever ****** was behind a big clump of rushes so we waited with lamp full on the fox, waiting for it to break out either side easy pickings for the 243. A minute later he popped out trying to get away but 58grain hornady vmax soon put a stop to him We went up to get the fox and took the brush off for BIGTHUG, and then went back to the landy had a good call for ten minutes and scanned but nothing so decided time for a fag brake and some banter Halfway through my fag shaun had a quick scan only to see a fox sitting on the opposite valley about 200 yards i grabbed the rifle cycled a bullet and gave the lamper the nod to light it up but as soon the light hit him he took off shaun did a loud squeak and he stopped and was looking at me over a brow in the field, only the top of his face and ears were showing so i let one rip between the eyes crack he's down so we sent BIGTHUG up to get it as he's younger and fitter He came back with the fox and couldn't beleve the hole it had made in his head :o :o :o Anyway off with brush number 2 and we decided to go further up the mountain right to the top and have a shine only to see another fox 400-500 yards out. It was well cagey, he'd seen the lamp before as we'd squeaked for a while. The fox was coming in slow but wasn't committed, we managed to get the fox to about 200ish but it started to trot off so i had to take it on the trot i put the crosshair on charlie and let rip the bullet hit and went up its **** gutting the fox so we couldn't even tell what sex it was So a good result 3 foxes and just aswell because he's starting lambing soon  I think BIGTHUG enjoyed the night thats the first time he's been foxing he's hooked all ready heres a few photos some are graffic
