SuffolkPestcontrol
ok listen up yes im` lazy yes you all said that before sorry i` really sorry but i`m just lazy to troll though the forums i have read lots of panic of people getting into to deep poo because of this and that i`m starting to panic too . i have read the 2009 general licence for pest contol of birds but what actually does it / we mean when we say we have satifiled that we have tried all non leatal methods of pest control before we shoot ? we all like to shoot pigeoons its good fun . its a great sport , legally we can only do it for certain reason under the licence , they are a huge pest to farmers and with estimated number of over 8 million birds but what its the practical guildlines for this? i usually place a few old Cd`s attached to a pole at other ends of the field , it`s a large field its makes them come closer to me . i say its for trying non leatal methods before i shot ?. when i get there there sometimes a few birds / groups already eating i ask them to go away flapping my arms like a crazy person, they fly off but soon come back . This is about the time the decoys and hide are set up . i`m happy that the land owner has tried non leatal method because he have gas guns this apart from the expensive just seam to move the birds about from eatting one field to another , i even seen the woodies eat next to a working ags gun and it does very little to unerve . wish that time the gas gun was closer to the hide not in the middle of the field is that acceptable in the term`s of the general licence? and i`m i just a worry wart ? i do like pest controlling pigeons with a shotgun but dont like bars and dropped bars of soap if you feel strongly about my post either for or against then please PM me if you dont want to reply here ( for what ever reason . ) i`ll rather have more input that just a few replies all the best SPC
Warlock
Gas guns being used is an adequate defence to prove other means have been tried. plus cd`s too so i don`t see any problems.

henry d
As the "authorised person" I am sufficiently aware that non lethal methods of deterring woodpigeons are inefficient and that by shooting them I will remove many pests and deter many more by the sound of my shooting as well as by the amount I miss Therefore I am within the terms of the general licence and am fully satisfied that I am well within the law. GL for England , Scotland , N.I.. However as a pest controller you already know this
