410PHIL
Hi folks is my brother aloud to use one of my guns on land that I have permission on if I am also there and the land owner is happy for him to shoot on if as long as its legal. It may seem like a daft question but its near an area that is overlooked by a road and if old bill gets called I wanna make sure we are all leggit. cheers Phil
hairyduck
yes, as long as you're present and supervising him at the time

arjimlad
Yes, if he has SGC. Otherwise not, unless he borrows the gun from a lawful occupier and uses it in the presence of the lawful occupier. Depends on whether you have the shooting "rights" or are just on their with casual permission. The "lawful occupier" bit is the grey area. viking
im gonna say no, he can only use a gun belonging to the land owner, and in his company, unless he has his own sgc
Scarpa
Most forces seem to define a 'lawful occupier' as a person with shooting rights over the land. Just give your FAO a ring and clarify.
webber
The simple answer to this question is NO. If you choose to contact your FEO, and he says differently, ask him to send you a letter confirming his advise. You may come to rely on it for your defence. webber
Guest
What if the owner has no SGC. If I am the only one that has SGC.
Ozzy Fudd
What if the owner has no SGC. If I am the only one that has SGC. doesnt matter, its occupier and most forces see occupier as someone who holds shooting rights! give your feo a ring for clarification but should be ok
Guest
Well let me tell you this story, this guy has an uncle (with no FAC or SGC ) but who has land where one could shoot on. Now if I go on this land and shoot can this guy come and shoot with me or would the uncle or him have to have SGC?

Guest
Yeah I would have to get written approval from the uncle and then get my FEO to check the land, I know the drill. I was just wondering if I cooult take the newphew along after I have gone through all these procedures. Thanks

viking
mate, your giving out advise that your not even sure about yourself, with this situation its not a definate yes or no, but how you see the words, legal owner of the land,so to say an out rite yes is foolish and misleading, Edited February 21, 2009 by viking
arjimlad
It is a grey area, because there is such a thing as having full sporting rights over land, and the right to take game, which is arguably different from merely having permission from the landowner. clayman
Get the permission in writing, be beside him when he shoots. No land inspection is needed for Sec 2 permissions under Sec 11.5 of the Fire-arms act 1984 and amendments. If you sough an 11.6 permit, then they might inspect, but you dont need one for your described activity.
