Warlock
I always shoot during the week due to having a family life at the weekend but have found being the only gun on several hundred acres of rape can be a problem as they hop off elsewhere and there are no other guns to keep them moving. I arrived home in a rather poor mood and explained to my wife the problem and she turned round and said the most obvious answer you could think of "What do you do for a living", well by day i am a civil engineer and make my own hours, my side job is that i run a pyrotechnics company, so after a bit of tinkering i set out with my pyrotechnics kit into the fields of kent, i went round each rape field and set series of small bangers in the fields around where they kept fleeing to, then i set remote receivers to them and wandered back to my favourite position. Didn`t take long for my first customers, fired my gun got 2 the rest ******** off, kept an eye on them and watched them go to another field, just as they were flying over set off a banger by remote and it worked, had them moving all day, the bangers cost me pennies and kept me busy rather than sitting around waiting. Warlock
Neat idea, hope you got a good bag for your efforts 64 with 73 cartirdges used, so i was happy with that, makes up for the crappy days before that when i have sat for 5 hours, fired twice, got nothing. I sense a wind of change.
Cranfield
Like you, I shoot in the week, rarely at weekends and sometimes get the same problem. Not being an urban guerrilla , I have to rely on fertilizer bags on poles (don't need many), conspicuously parked vehicle, shop bought string bangers, even a rotary with Tesco carrier bags on the arms. I also keep on the move and am prepared to set up at two or three locations during the day, sometimes just putting out a rotary and a couple of shell decoys so that I travel light. MK38
Nice one , i could have done with that yesterday, because despite flags around the field ( hardly any wind to ruffle them ) the Pigeons would allways settle where we wern't ! The gas guns go off whether the birds are there or not , so a selective means of firing a banger is a really good idea... Would a remote set up cost much? Maybe you could start another buisness and make them... or at least supply kits.... i be very interested in that Dave  Edited February 22, 2009 by MK38
Warlock
I`m off work all week so i`m going to get my old diablo catapault out and see how far i can fire bangers across a field without putting the fuses out, if i can get the fuse right that shoud work too. You can get remote firework igniters in the shops but the problem is the bangers as they are now banned except if you have a licence. Ozzy Fudd
:yp: nice one! a couple of years back i was having trouble shooting pigeons that were roosting in an old barn, the best way i found to get them out so they can be shot was to fire a small rocket into the barn, using the barrel of my sbs as a launch tube, then plug a couple when they came out
