hinksford
Mate, Id give up if I were you - it seems non of the advice given on here 'suits you'. Maybe thats the issue - you want it your way which as I'm sure people will agree is not the way it ususlly works... If your are really suggesting giving up then do so - with an attitude like that you will get no where... Its not about dressing smart (usually to the contrary) looking prepared is the key and as you have said you haven't got 'all the kit'. What would happen if a farmer took you up on your offer - would you go and buy the kit the next day (i doubt it) and if you did would you be proficient with it (even less likely). I would say (and this is only base don your post and responses to advice on this thread) you need a change of attitude if you are to get anywhere with the farmers. Good luck either way Well thanks very much for your opinionated advice
Spaniel
Hi Mate What i would do today, this weekend is to re-visit the farmers i had already spoken to. They will remember your face so go and pay them a visit just as a catch up and see how you get on... (Im going to be doing the same myself next week) Clay shooting is fun and good practice fo the real thing GWA Joing them now ready for the season (£150 which includes your BASC Membership) I joined last year no great numbers on the Ducks but being out on the foreshore is something different. plus you can introduce yourself to people and opportunities can raise from this. Ask on here if anyone needs a hand pigeon shooting.....but go and get some decoys, net and poles so you are ready for when they say yes.. Cheers
jammie*dodger
Paul i understand what you are saying mate,if there had been any sign that any of the farmers i have spoken to would maybe give a positive response it would be different. All around where i am sat now there are bird scares going off every few minutes, seems the farmers will spend money to use these rather than let a guy get rid of the pests for free...................makes no sense mate ATB Mick Sounds like you've already made your mind up. Shame but there it is I suppose. Will your gun appear in the sales forum soon? JD
Stamford
I agree with a couple of the latter posts, I think you've already given up, people have offered shooting to you but you seem to want your own, dont run before you can walk my friend !! If you spend days out with some of these guys, you'll learn far more than sitting in a hide all on your jack jones, so listen to some of these chaps, take up the offers and take in all the advice. I've been offered days out with some of the PW members and I will take them up on it and if I can offer the same in return then not a problem. I too have been looking for permissions for the last 18 months and was very nearly persuaded to sell my gun and start up golf again. Naming no names, I found a country forum and like some of the guys on here, I was offered a day out with a member and really enjoyed it so I started looking for permissions again. Its really potluck mate, I emailed a group that runs county shows in my area on the off chance and a chap responded within 24 hours. Met with the estate owner then had another meeting with the head keeper and I've managed to bag 1000 acres. OK I'm restricted to shoot to Feb - August but thats a hell of a lot of shooting to be had. Also offered my services to the head keeper ( incase he's on here, he's a really good guy and very approachable  ) I dont know much about game keeping etc but I'm sure another pair of hands and a bit of muscle wont be frowned upon by him. You offer him help and he'll may open the door a little further for future use. Farms are drilling now so get out there and make a nuisance of yourself, eventually you'll get there..... But change the attitude
Vince Green
Money opens all doors. You can be shooting by next week if you are prepared to pay. Other advice, join NOBS and go beating. Once the gamekeepers get to know you its easier to get a foot in the door. Plus its a good day out and you get paid into the bargain. hinksford
I have been speaking to them again no joy as yet. As for paying for Pigeon shooting the more people do that the quicker the day will come when all farmers want paying for shooters to rid their farms of pests thats why i said i would not touch NPPC and the likes with a long barge pole.Yes the guns will appear on here first

Vince as i have said before would love to go beating but i am disabled which prevents me from walking far without constant rests. But change the attitude The reason i have not asked or taken up an offer of shooting is the fact i do not wish to be a burden to other shooters with my disability slowing all down.I doubt if there is any member on here done as many miles and spent as many hours knocking doors.Seems some have been lucky early on and think thats the way it is Regards Mick
