Jonnyni
The farmers land we shoot has a few fields bordering a shooting estate, he asked us to shoot the pheasants in one particular field this week, obviously we didn't and will not but we counted 35 that we could see in the drilled field feeding fighting running etc etc. What a shame the spring drillings are after the open season. Well we know where we are shooting on the first day next year, he has the shooting wrights and hate pheasants with a passion.

dunganick
make sure like with the chicken case, that youve told the keeper, last thing you want is some anoyed keeper keep harasing the cops and getting you harrased does sound like a bit of fun though
digger
have you thought about catching a few up and rearing some ? makes a few bob and gives you something to do when the pigeons arent playing ball.

digger
pen sections from the keeper on the next estate as he should have a few spare.set them up with netting over the top,add three pop holes and make sure there is brash inside as well as water and food.once you have caught a few a good ratio is five hens to one cock and you should get plenty of eggs.may need to de-spur the cocks if they arent this seasons birds. aubs
About catching up , when you start getting cocks in the pen you know you have all the hens, they always go in first .
Jonnyni
only big problem is its right next to the road that runs by the estate easy to see net etc etc, Gamekeeper is no problem as he should have caught the birds up by now himself and the farmer does not give a flying pluck now his fields are sowed. Teal
You can make a wire trap really easily out of chicken mess and iron rods for the bars on each side- making a box shape. Simply then on the front construct a funnel. Use some wheat and sprinkle it down a bit in front of the trap and into it - in much larger amounts. Good luck, let us know how you get on. About the road - can you get some cut conifer/ anything with a lot of foliage for cover on it, and stake it up and set the catcher up behind that. Devilishdave
Used to use the same kind of traps to shift feral pigeons when I was a kid, they were qute efective. Dave
