Salop Matt
Okay folks this is one for the rifle shooters out there ! How do you store your rifle when in transit ? Am thinking a hard case but obviously theres the option of a bag/sleeve/ slip what ever you want to call them !
steve_b_wales
I use a thick padded soft case for mine.
Baldrick
I use a Peli case when making a journey with the rifle, or when bumping around farms. I do have plenty of padded rifle slips, but Land Rover and tractor cabs are not very forgiving places.
realtreedave
just a padded gunslip wedged in the rear footwells seems to work ok for me

The Burpster
Gun bags with full length zips. Easy to get guns out & easy to dry if they get wet

Baldrick
Also can someone recomend me a leather sling, I am looking for one thats as wide as possible so it doesnt dig into me ! I personally gave up on leather slings long ago: a Butler Creek stretch neoprene sling is grippier and more comfortable. It also shrugs off dirt, cold weather and water. moses
Bisley do a really good wide leather sling called the "cobra thumbhole". Not cheap but, very good quality.
Jonno243
Bisley do a really good wide leather sling called the "cobra thumbhole". Not cheap but, very good quality. I have one of the above and it is the best leather sling I have ever used. When transporting the rifle in a vehicle I use the Dosko SE Double Scoped Rifle Case, bigger than necessary but it allows me to fit everything into the case (they also do a single version if you don't use the big can / big bipod combination). It wouldn't stand up to extreme torture or abuse, but for transportation it works a treat. Ali Troupe sells them @ Bushwear, around £55 if my memory serves me correct. Chasing deer on the hill I use a Deerhunter padded slip, also sourced through Ali. ATB, Jonno.
