new semi-auto

hi

i am new to the sport and am looking to buy my first shotgun, I've done some research and have come to the conclusion that a semi-auto would be the best gun for me, i would use it for game and clays, and have approximately 300 pounds to spent on a second hand gun.

I've been looking at the Beretta 302 , Remington 1100 and the Hatsan escort, but am not completely sure and need some guidance.

Thanks. Isaac Davies

sounds good

but probs a bit expensive for me

Fair - I got mine for £600

THAT was a bargain and it was mint! :good:

But if you get a benelli it will never let you down, they look the part and feel like an extension of your own arm

At the end of the day tho - up to you and your bank manager :yes:

hi gw80, i think the one im looking at on guntrader only comes with 3/4 and full, would that be alright for most situations? or would you recommend something smaller for longer range shots? I have a good bit of land with an abundance of monk jack deer which need to be culled.

i have been shooting my airgun there for a few years but would like to step it up a bit.

I don't think you can shoot muntjac deer with a shotgun, i would find out the calibres for the type of qaurry you want to shoot, i'm sure muntjac can only be shot with bigger full calibres such as .243 rifle ect. not shotgun, it's illegal not to mention morally wrong to shoot Deer with a shotgun using standard carts

cheers

ive read that some parts on the Remingtons can brake or wear out quickly if not given a certain amount of care, have any of you heard this?

PS: is it easy to get hold of 302 chokes, ive heard they're a ****** to find

thats rubbish, ALL guns wear with use. The remington 1100 / 1187 is one of the most reliable autos i have used, not the lightest but very well built. They didnt become the No.1 selling auto in USA for being unreliable

 Except i do own one and even when you think you've missed it still drops

I bought a Remi 1100 a couple of months ago. Fantastic gun, as previously mentioned, it's not light but a fantastic bit of kit. The only thing mine won't cycle are 21g loads.

But they're for gaylords anyway!!

Go on.........................you know you want it!!
