jonboy1
hired a villa in gozo last year, it's a very small island just off of malta, superb for snorkeling or scuba diving, lovely scenery and weather. Off to villa in northern cyprus for 2 weeks in june, can't wait, not been there before, but have heard it's supposed to be very nice. Zapp
Northern Cyprus is very nice. I went there years ago before there was any real tourism, and it was lovely. I was not far from Kyrenia. ZB

vole
Get a package deal in Phuket but avoid Patong. Nice diving off Phi Phi Islands and you can forget cooking for yourself because of the superb cheap food there. There is a shooting range where you can buy time with some seriously offensive weapons. If you want to spend less than as suggested above, the Red Sea is hard to beat. Sharm is getting really busy but Dahab is lovely if you want to wind down. The diving off Dahab is great. Lord Geordie
Rhodes in the Greek islands is nice! Australia is also nice Did the Ukraine a few years back and really enjoyed that too Forget Paris it's a dump Malasia is beautiful but if you suffer with the humidity of the UK then forget it The humidity there was higher than ours I am not unfit by any means but found it a bit damp Beautiful place to visit though!!!! Portugal is nice I was in the Algarve last year but I found the local people a tad on the arrogant side! Other than that it was a nice hol and best of all the wines and port was as cheap as chips  Skiathos in the Greek isles was OK a bit scruffy and the harbour restaraunts were highly over rated and highly priced so like most places you need to venture into the outskirts for anything LIKE real greek quisine and at a fair price! Look for the places the LOCALS are eating at and you normally get a good deal Palma Nova in Spain was a Joke I am now trying to make my mind up for my next excursion between Morrocco and Tunisia? ME
Malta has a very special place in my heart. A wonderful place. ZB I make it a rule that I dont go on holiday any place where the women have more facial hair than me. (that includes Suffolk) Edited April 20, 2009 by LV
ME
Just came back from Florida. Going for a long weekend to see my bro in Andalucia in July / August without the kids ( ) Rest of the spring / summer weekends in Mersea playing on the water, drinking beer and having BBQs. ---- I would suggest somewhere they are out of the Euro as it is in the pan at the moment. vole
Agree about the Euro. Ireland was really expensive. £3.50 a pint. Nearly a quid for a tin of beans. Same for a tin of mackerel. That effectively denies a Northern Englishman 3/4 of his staples apart from black pudding. Came back skint and a stone lighter.
