At fifteen years old or over, you can apply for and be granted a shotgun certificate which would entitle you to own and use a shotgun independant of any adult supervision. You may not purchase or hire a shotgun until you are seventeen or over. You may only aquire a gun as a gift, inheritance, on loan or if it is hired for you by an adult.

no i was 15. im sure it was 17 because i remember the officer telling me theres no real point in getting the certificate because i can`t shoot on my own untill i was 17.

i remember somebody telling me that it was ok when i turn 15 thats why i apllied for it but the officer said i wasnt allowed to shoot on my own till 17.

if you are allowed to shoot a shotgun at 15 how come you have you be 17 to shoot an airrifle?
