MC
Have you tried your local police forces website? I know you can download them from the Essex Police site but they will have the wrong details on them.
Beardo
you can just email them as well - it's accepted

Beardo
yet again, no consistency across the different constabularies!
christy_stone
I only got my first shotgun recently an was concerned about this, but when it came down to to doing it, it was really easy just type up a letter in word addressed to you firearms dept with the date of the transaction, the make and bore of the gun and the serial number and where you got it from. Just send the letter recorded delivery and bobs your uncle. I sent my letter of about a month ago and recieved no reply(I am with merseyside police), however if it is your first gun I would expect a house call from the police in the future to check that everything is locked up and safe! christy_stone
Yeh I got a house call before I was given my certificate, but what I was trying to say was that usually the Police will call at your house maybe once per year without notifying you just to make sure your guns and ammo are stored correctly, that what I meant by expecting a call from the police as they know you have a gun. Thank goodness we don't live in a police state yet. Should the police wish to visit me for any reason I would expect and indeed insist that they made an appointment that was convenient for both parties. They do not just turn up out of the blue to check your guns, security or certificate without a very good reason.
