PW Essex Boat Fishing Trip

So, Longshanks and myself do like a bit of boat fishing.

Got a mate out of Burnham on Crouch that runs a charter on a 10m Blyth Cat. The mackerel are now showing in numbers and I was wondering if it was worth arranging a PW day out?

My suggestion would be a Saturday.

If there are sufficient numbers interested (the two of us plus up to another 8 max) then I'd be happy to sort it out. Likely to be 50 quid(ish) each.

Need to sort it out pronto if we want a proper crack at the Tope.

No, not just Mackerel, but they ensure that even the newbies don't blank :hmm:

Could be a good year for bass, unlike last year.

The spot that holds the big Tope also has some cracking bass.

You interested then?

Yes, very interested, but it will depend on when, as it a bit of a trot from here for a couple of Flounders and an Eel

I've got family in Kent, so I could doss down there for an early start

Count me in as well,

None of the take the **** out of the tourists trip though, I know what the thames estuary holds and where to fish it. I would be well up for a trip for tope or smoothhounds.

I don't think my freezer will take many more roker.

I have the same problem with cod fillets

The skipper always tries his best, in fact you'd be hard pushed to find another charter skipper that tries harder, but he does have an unbalanced tilt towards bass; provided we make it clear what we want in advance we'll have no problems

I've crewed for him on numerous occasions - bleedin' hard work, especially with a bunch of novices when feathering.

We'll also need to sort out in advance how we want to divvy up what we catch; our usual approach is to split equally between all - that way everyone works as a team and folks get less stressed about having the "best" spot on the boat...

Best!

How many can the boat carry? most of the mersea charter fleet is licenced for 12 but I would hate to go on a trip with 12. there is room on the boat for 12 comfortably but it is too many to fish comfortably.

Haa bleedin Haa,

From what I remember you ain't exactly a racing snake either.

I would be happy with 6 on the boat anyway. I'd rather pay a few quid extra then spend all day untangling lines.

And 225 yards? is that all you could manage? I can do that with a baited rig.

I have always wondered what sort of person goes fishing on a sports field, now I know.

This is just an excuse by the Suffolk boys to get out into international waters and to escape the jurisdiction of the English Courts for their depraved acts.

Frankly, it's disgusting.

Mung, I look forward to showing you my collection of Golden Rivets

Competitive lot ain't ya - we prefer to let our fishing talk for us - nuff said

So, Pavman, is that a firm interest? If so, getting near to the upper limit ...

Can we play boating games like we do in Suffark?

My cods bigger than your cod (boasting game with a twist)

Sea sick pass the parcel (you have to swallow rank pork pie when the music stops)

My worms got teeth what’s your got (a memory game for ages 15 to 50)

“The Captain says do This†interactive mime, fun for all

Gang plank trick or treat (self explanatory)

Nothing will get that out! (soapy sponge washing game)

Seaman Stains (see above)
