Cushat
I am correct, I do not post unless I am sure, I have stated the facts and which I am qualified to do are you? Yep, you're definitely coming across as a self-appointed expert and allround clever ****. Good work.
hurstpol
I thought the whole idea of a forum was to give and receive advice, which is what I have offered, if I want advice on something I will ask those who are qualified to give it, it just so happens I have had over 30 years practical experience in the field of firearms and firearms legislation, and if my advice is unwelcome or I am coming over as a quote " Clever ****" there is a simple answer. "I will stop".
MPT1
Hi HurstPol, Thanks for your input I understand your source of knowledge. As far as I know it was 3yr3mths so who would take an appeal to CC and how. Also bearing in mind cost what are the chances of success? hurstpol
Hi HurstPol,Thanks for your input I understand your source of knowledge. As far as I know it was 3yr3mths so who would take an appeal to CC and how. Also bearing in mind cost what are the chances of success? As I said in my first post the best option is to ring your Police Firearms Department, you can then pass on the full details personally without posting them all over the INTERNET, they will give you sound advice on how to proceed, I don't think this forum is the best place to explain his personal circumstances, give them a ring contrary to most opinion's they are usually helpful. If anyone wants to read the Home Office firearms guidance to Police 2002 it is readily available in the public domain on the INTERNET a PM to me and I will send you the link
palombier
Hurstpol I don't like being negative but you ought stick to sword fighting and put the pen down. MPT 1 has now clarified that his friend is banned for life from possessing firearms and depending on the offence and the amount of time that has elapsed, amongst other things, it is not impossible to get the ban overturned. I know of a number of appeals that have been successful and only a good lawyer could determine what his chances are. P

P Look this is my last word on this subject I am aware of what has been said by MPT1, and he seems to be happy with the advice, I have never ever said in any of my posts "that it is impossible to have a ban overturned," dont put words in my mouth read the posts, you are atributing things to me which I have never said I think you are confusing my posts with someone elses, please go back and read them again, and point out to me where I have said he had no chance in an appeal, my advice has been sound all along and I have made no determination about anything, on the contrary I have consistently told him the facts and that he needs to contact his local Firearms Department. If you disagree with any of my advice you are at liberty to do so but get your facts straight, all posts are there for everyone to read and they will see what I have said

hurstpol
Grandmother and sucking eggs springs to mind Mr Hurstpol. There is a link to the HO guidance at the top of this very forums home page !!. We have all been quoting from it for years. Well grandma not everyone has your egg sucking abilities and might be appreciative of the offer of help, I would have expected someone who does not want any help to ignore my post as it was of no relevance to him, it was offered in good faith to those who did not know where to obtain the information. If we all stopped offering help and advice on the forum because someone might have allready posted the information before the forum would be a poorer place. You discourage people from participation in forums by making glib comments like this if you dont want any more help and advice put a link on top of the forums home page and let them know. new members are not familiar with all the links on this site and will take time to learn them so you will just have to be patient with them, or do you want to stop participation in the forum? wymberley
Hi, All,,Just out of interest, I don't currently shoot air guns, but am I not right in thinking that the 12ft lbs legislation for air rifles is actually 6ft lbs when applied to air pistols? Cheers Well, I only asked!

rjimmer
On finishing(I think) a custodial sentence doesn't the offender have to sign the Firearms Act to agree not to handle or be associated with any firearm for a period of time that depends on the length of sentence? One chap I know said he would have to walk away if ever I brought a firearm near him. He had done 9 years for armed robbery. After that I was very wary, because one of the reasons for rejecting an FAC is 'known criminal associations'. MPT1 might wish to think whether he wants to 'associate' with his brother-in-law. I have no issue with anything that Hurstpol has posted on this subject. Edited May 28, 2009 by rjimmer
