I used to play a lot of golf and the same thing applied to handicaps, i can remeber playing with certain guys leading up to captains day and club championships who used to nurse they're handicaps round the course here and there by missing a few puts etc, i could never understand why they did it i personally always tried to put in my best score should it be a competion on a saturday or a 18 hole knock about on a thursday evening, just seems some guys like to get they;re name high up on the board no matter what is morally right!!!

I don't understand it either. I'm the opposite. I'd rather stay in AA class (at club level) and never win anything than drop to a lower class so that I can win plastic trophies and a few quid :P

i've only just started shotting clays again and will be shooting my 1st comp on saturday, i reckon i can hold my mine own in b class, but now have got it in my head that there are guys in my section that will be far better than me yet are shooting in the same class, surely it's not right but what can be done about it!! Seems to me that you you just have to get on with it and if you do beat them it will be even more of a victory!!!!

Then stay away, leave the haybale shoots for the 99% of clay shooters who enjoy their sport. The only reason the ELITE go to haybales is to boost their already inflated ego by winning the £25 prize.

Believe me the 99% of clay shooters can do without ********* such as the elite.

Chard,

Why should the payout be more for AAA class? winning your class is an achievement in its own right, should the AAA's get more money because their gun or cartridges are more expensive or that they have driven half way accross the country to win £25.

Your last sentence is spot on, mate :P

Not a lot that can be done, nobody seems to have succeeded in stopping it so far, seems to happen in golf as well :D

It doesn't happen in every comp, just hope that yours is a cheat-free zone, plenty of them are.

Good luck :yp:

I know where you're coming from Martin, but the bloke at the top of the heap should always get the biggest pot, surely. There needs to be an incentive to get to the top, otherwise there seems little point.

I'm not talking hugely bigger prizes, there doesn't seem to be much cash spare for prize money in this sport, but where you get £100 prize for winning B or C class, perhaps £150 for AAA (or whatever)

The truth hurts doesn't it.

I have witnessed on more than one occasion the so called elite (sorry I missed out the so called bit last time) turning up at a shoot and shooting as many rounds as they can just to win the £50 high gun prize, or all hanging around the pool shoot ready to jump in if anyone comes close to their score.

Agree with that.

I shoot cos i enjoy it and the win for me is continual imprrovement and shooting to the best of my ability. Seems to me that the better option (for me at least) is to go to competition shoots on a birds only basis if there is that option.

unfortunately MC im quite happy shooting haybalers, its just muppets like you cant believe that i shoot for fun.

i grew up shooting with a good coach, but i have never shot huge amounts of shells like some do. until i was about 20 i rarely shot 500 cartridges a year!. you more than likely ram more cartridges up the barrel than i do!

Oh right so I am a muppet now am I, better that I suppose than an up my own **** ******** like yourself.

If you can't take it don't dish it out.

Yes I do shoot more than you, I probably shoot between 6 - 8,000 a year. What is your point?

Why is it the I can't believe you shoot for fun? Isn't that what everyone does?

I wasn't the one who started about whinging haybalers, which shows how much you really know about 99% of clay shooters.

Seems to me,most of you are looking at this problem from a selfish point of view. :hmm:

Surely there should be more money/ better prizes for the elite, they are after-all the best.

I do agree with a class system to bring young and/or less experienced guns on, and to offer some incentive and reward.I believe that your best three scores in the given period should count towards your classification (these scores are what you are capable of).I also believe you should never,Irepeat, never be allowed back down the classifications. The only thing would be age that would allow you to move into a lesser category e.g. veterans.

Harsh, may-be, but sand-bagging would be a thing of the past.

A slip of form, tough ****, you dont win anything until your form returns.

Maybe a redefinition of classes would be required and perhaps more of them.

Oh dear oh dear,

The elite are rattled, We can trade insults all day long as far as I am concerned, you obviously can't handle a little criticism and run of to sulk at the first chance you get. The floor in your house must be covered in toys from your pram and spat dummies.

I can assure you I am not an ar$e bandit as you put it, and quite how you think I am miserable because I have an opinion that differs from yours I don't know.

You know what to do if you don't like it, run along like a good lad and find yourself another forum. This one doesn't need potty mouthed people such as yourself.
