colloc
Hi, I was skinning some freshly shot Rabbits the other night and noticed a load of yellow/cream pus on the skin. It looked like it had come from around the rear haunches. It did not smell so I assume it wasn't actually pus but possibly a liquid fat of sorts, anyone have any idea as to what it is before it gets fed to the dogs? Thanks in advance
Mungler
Don't give it to the dogs - sounds like a tapeworm blister http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...amp;hl=tapeworm http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/ind...amp;hl=tapeworm Yucky Edited June 15, 2009 by Mungler
Windy
Nowt wrong with tesco value baked beans. They hit the spot Jonno at home we have a pet bunny (top joker, regularly rapes the spaniel!) ......can vouch that bunny pus is not runny. Due to their physiology the pus they create is very thick, same consistency as toothpaste.
Beardo
are you sure it wasn't just in milk?

Paul in North Lincs.
i think you'l find its just fat, if its stuck to the flesh and yellow in colour
John_R
Was it actually pus, or was the rabbit fly-blown?
colloc
Thanks for the responses so far, The Rabbits are cooked prior to feeding to the dogs, I therefore assume that would kill the tapeworm if that's what it is. I used the term Pus as it's the nearest description to what it was like, as it didn't smell I doubt that it is actual Pus. The 'liquid' was between the flesh and skin so doubt it was in milk Can the fat be of a liquid consistency as this is what I think it could have been and hope that is what it was
Beardo
if it was a doe in milk - the milk can be observed lying in between the fur/skin and the flesh area as you describe. most readily seen when you paunch it, if you skinned it, then the remaining flesh will be milk free i'm pretty sure that's what it was
