jimmy_lazers
The last time i was out with the essex boys it was embarrassing ,they were polishing their shoes between stands and asking each other if their waistcoats had any wrinkles in them . Then it was should i pull the peak of my cap down a bit further and do you think the colour of my sunglasses clash with my gloves . Will this big gun make a big bang . As a country boy from deepest norfolk totally embarrassing .Harnser . There's your problem, you went out shooting with a bunch of Essex boys. I went to uni with a lad from Essex, used to highlight his own hair. Camp as a row of tents in a pansy field...

samw
I think clay shooters are whimps and uphill gardeners . They only shoot on a sunday morning if its not raining and like to dress up in fancy waistcoats and silly hats and sunglasses . They are allways arguing over which is the best cartridge and they only eat bacon butties. May the good lord protect us from them .Harnser . well said harnser Woofters all of them. But, boy can some of them shoot! Would like to see a non clay shooter's score on his first time shooting 100 sporting! Just back from 50 sporting at EJ Churchills and one chap cleared every stand that I saw him shoot. my dad before he died was not a clay shooter was a pigeon shooter, wildfowler and game shot and was one of the best shots i had ever seen so what am saying is you dont have to be a clay shooter to score high on the sporting clays lol

Chard
my dad before he died was not a clay shooter was a pigeon shooter, wildfowler and game shot and was one of the best shots i had ever seen so what am saying is you dont have to be a clay shooter to score high on the sporting clays lol The best clay shot I ever met was a pigeon shooter. He was awesome  Used to just have a round of clays to keep his eye in. We tried to get him to shoot in competition, but he wasn't interested. He said it would spoil it for him and he'd probably shoot worse. I have to say though, that he was the exception rather than the rule. Other game shooters that I've seen on the clays have just been pretty good or very ordinary, some bloody awful . But he was good. Can't even remember his name, but he was from over Bury way somewhere Edited June 25, 2009 by Chard

Nothing clever about dressing like a *****. I don't get tarted up either. I wear baggy combat trousers and a PW fleece  or a T shirt if it's hot. I wear a skeet vest because I'm not stupid.. I know I'm a scruffy slob, my wife tells me often, but I don't go around boasting about it. If they've got money, let them spend it. It's nice to own nice things. If you can't see that, you need to control the green-eyed monster.

It is finally proven i go some sundays as its only open weekends . in any weather i dont give too dams about what i ware u get some guys dressed in £100s of pounds of exspensive clothing etc stuff that last time i went i wore tracksuit bottoms and a white t shirt and got some looks , clothing etc dont make u a better shot ! i think half of them turn up at my ground just to see who dresses in the most money , Peasant...... You need to now buy an escort semi auto. It has been clinically proven time and time again on one clay shoot I go to that a well dressed a clay shooter shoots more than one who dress like they are going to a sunday car boot. That is becuse if you are not tidy, and dressed suitably you are politely turned away.......

There is a difference between scum & peasant......I think you are taking it a little too far with the shooting bit though, banishment to Essex should be enough. You should be fine with a Baikal as it is an O/U, but you won't get an invite to any of my coffee mornings. Now for the nitty gritty stuff.....Last summer a chap turns up at a local haybale I used to go to. T-shirt, flip flops and shorts. He then walks into a stand and in turn hits the metal cage lifting a toe nail and breaking his big toe. Long and short of it he then trys a claim through the no win no fee following, the council pc brigade starts crawling all over the ground. Landowner gets involved, says he does'nt want the liability or aggro and hey presto....ground closes. Incidentally the guy was shooting an escort semi auto. And for your information I used to shoot an escort, but then I hit the big time and bought a lanber. Calm yourself, you fella's can be reeled in all day long........... ryantidgwell
i bought the baikal as it was really cheap , and used for a hide gun , i dont use it at the clay ground if i do go there i will just use a club gun , i am not trying to cause a argument i just think people should be allowed to wear what they like . obviously with in reason , flip flops and pink shorts thats a no no ! the guy who broke his toe should have been banned and never aloud back ! and as for the coffee morning why wont i get a invite?
