I've had two in .22 and .177 going back to when they were first made, put a Tasco scope and a Galway moderator on them and never looked back, I was putting 500+ pellets a week through them, had an accident in 86 and this slowed me down big style, eventually sold them as they were too heavy for me to lug around and bought a PCP. Wished I still had them.

Quite probably the best all round springer of all time.

A Break Barrel so quick to load, not overly heavy compared to the TX200, packs a hell of a wallop and serenely accurate.

I've got a HW2080K in .177 basically a heavily modified heavy stock HW 80 for use in field target, having had it's action smoothed and the heavy custom stock for ultimate hold.

Far more challenging to shoot than my PCP and I love it!

Had one in .22

Very accurate, low recoil due to being heavy.

Too heavy to carry around IMHO.

Eventually had a trigger problem where the sears seemed to slip and cause a lock up.

A new trigger unit/ safety catch was fitted by a reputable repairer, did not solve it for long so sold it on for spares!

Just my opinion.

Hiya

I've had a HW80k soon after they first came out - great air-rifle that is very accurate and with a superlative trigger straight from the box.

The only downside is that some may consider it heavy - I say until you get used to it.

Used this for many years, in particular rats, rabbits, rooks etc. until had it Venomised to 22flb (I think).

Still have it and although only used for tree-rats, rooks, magpies etc in the garden as have moved up to full-bore tools I would not get rid of it - in fact seriously considering having the spring replaced for a gas piston and changing the original moderator for one of the newer improved designs.

I am not sure what the custom stock does to it but it can only be an added benefit.....

Just remembered - stripped off the original varnish and used dark Schaftoil (some German stock oil) - bought out the grain brilliantly and now no risk of water getting under the varnish to blister.

Regards

L

HAD ONE AS MY FIRST GUN IN .22 MANY YEARS AGO, AND WISH I STILL HAD IT. EXTREMELY ACCURATE POWERFUL AND SMOOTH IN 12FLBS AS ITS DESIGNED TO HANDLE MUCH MORE. I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE WEIGHT AND THE TX I USE NOW IS DEFINATLY HEAVIER. MY NEXT GUN WILL BE ANOTHER HW80K!

Dude, please.....
