minimum age

THERE IS NO MINIMAL AGE!.

It's that simple, - and it's completly up to the disgression of your local Fire arms department.

Most have a set miniumal age (say 12) but there's nothing in the law to state a miniumal age.

Thank-you.

The sarcastic remarks are not needed.

You can have a gun on an SGC from the age that you hold it. I had our guns put on the certificate at 14 years of age when I got my certificate although I obviously couldn't use them unaccompanied or access them until I was 15. What it did enable however was someone who was over 21 to take me shooting who did not have a certificate as I had one and had the guns on it.

There is no minimal age, although the person that signs your application needs to have known you for at least 2 years so in theory they couldn't give a shotgun certificate to anyone under 2 years of age. However my local force seems to consider 10 years old or so to be an acceptable age with which to apply.
