Frenchieboy
Well guys I have read some threads that have told of waiting ages for their FAC so I thought i would tell you about mine now that it has arrived. I applied for it on 15th June and it arrived yesterday (Friday 3rd July). My FEO was the most helpful officer you could wish to meet, nothing seemed to be too much trouble for him. He was happy and helpful, even when I called him about a few basic questions he answered them fully and did not talk down to me. He had to go round with me to check some of my permissions and we had a good chat, especially when I pointed out 2 of my prospective targets (2 foxes out sunbathing) about 400 yards from where we parked up. All in all I am very happy with the short time it took to process and issue my FAC (22LR Semi Auto and .222 Bolt Action, both with moderators, and I can't speak highly enough of the Lancashire Constabulary, especially Pete Wilkinson (My FEO) Has anyone else had their FAC processed so quickly or is this a record. Just as a foot note, I now have my .22, a Winchester 209 and took it out to zero the scopes last night. After 15 shots I was happy with the zeroing at 100 yards so I tried a walk about for a rabbit or two for the pot. I only saw 3, but they all met a swift end, the best being the last with a good head shot from the free standing position at 85 paces, needless to say I am well pleased!

Frenchieboy
I think the last 2 replies say it all about the Lancashire Constabulary. Like the others said, I can't speak highly enough about Peter Wilkinson and the rest of the staff. They are quick, helpful and in general the nicest people you could wish for! Well done Lancs Constabulary. Unfortunately unlike Mick Sandy I could not go straight out and buy a .222. I have had to use the money I had put by for a rifle to get the parts for my 4X4 so I can get it through it's MOT or I would have paid for a good .222 by now as I have several farms that are asking me to "sort Charlie out"! lasbrisas
Problem I'm having is getting the permission from a farmer/landowner in the first place. Do you have any tips for a beginner !!!
steve_b_wales
I have written this on PW some time ago, but, when I first applied for a FAC (1983) it took 5 days (not including the weekend) from handing in my application to local police station, to receiving my certificate. This was done by South Wales police who, even today, are still good with dealing with applications etc.
