chippy18
Was wondering if anyone would have any advise regarding transferring unlicenced shotguns. Now I know that the FLO would be the road to go but wondered if someone would know, should i ever know someone who had say gone through a rough time with his marriage and had not renewed his licence and had 2 shotguns he wanted gone. Now obviously this is only a hypothetical situation should i ever be asked about putting them on mine. Cheers

chippy18
True, but what if they were on an expired licence which would show up with The FLO when the serial no were checked. Cheers
garyb
Indeed... I'd be tempted to get on the phone to BASC and ask their view on it.
codling99
just send in a transfer form on to your ticket as soon as,and hope ya friend doesnt here anything about it from police, prob will though, but theyd rather see them on your ticket than on streets. but obviously, thats only what i would do,dont take my advice as legally binding. Greenhunter
Contact BASC (if you are a member) Just gone through this myself. I think that because they will have a record of the guns you will be ok to have them on your ticket but the police may well want them trashed. They did mine and it was a rare example by E C Hodges. BASC helped me and saved it!! GH
al4x
this shows how slack the licensing system is, you shouldn't be able to let your license lapse without receiving a visit to collect your guns. In this case I'd be tempted to steer clear or get the holder to drop them off at a firearms dealer and then handle the paperwork from there. chippy18
Thank you all. Think maybe a call to the BASC might be in order. Cheers
al4x
Just watch your and his back, basically he's in posession of unlicensed guns so a call to the FEO would drop him in the brown sticky stuff. He needs an excuse and to deal with things himself rather than you asking the questions and getting him banged up in the process

That's the reason I didn't want to just get on the phone. Think he is just going to have to man up. That's if it wasn't just hypothetical of course. THEINVISIBLESCARECROW
Guns to RFD rather quickly. Once back in the system then easy to buy without hassle. If they were handed in that would lessen any police bother rather than recieving a knock at the door. Allthough not so frequent it was common for unlicenced guns to turn up, found in the loft etc from the war, from pre licence years & so on. Bit rare but must still happen now & then. GlosGunCo
I would have to agree that getting them to the local RFD is the best bet - we get it a lot here, for various reasons and the cops always prefer guns on someones ticket, rather than floating around out there. An RFD can hold them in store, or transfer to a chums certificate. You would be surprised if you knew what I have had handed in over the years!! Indeed it does... and it isn't always that straight forward! If anyone has been through this procedure please post. I agree there are issues surrounding this particularly odd occurrence but surely the important thing is to get them back into the system?
