hawkeye
Gave a call yesterday to darebear to find if scaffy had gone back offshore as he had been doing courses all week.. Turned out he is home for a few days after the last few days i was looking forwards to a nice night in i had even turned down an invite from markbivvy to go down with kdubya to shoot some rabbits. Then i though of darebear sat at home with him all night so i asked her if he could go shooting and have a session lamping i could hear the relief in her voice when she asked what time has he to be down your place.. Steve arrived about 7.30 pm and we set of over the farms. Called first to see someone for a coffee and cake scaffy sat talking till nearly 9pm talk a hind leg of a donkey that lad. Finally dragged him away and headed for the main field where years ago they used to play polo had a ride up and down the field taking turns to shoot i was using my HMR scaffy was using his .22 rimmy..there didnt seem many about shot the ones we did see.. Then decided to try the local playing field (football) the place was over run with them shot quite a few till things went quiet.. So back to the polo field by now it was dark so we fitted the lamps on top of the motor this was the first time this field has been lamped we had always shot it in daylight..the clicker started to get a few on, i was driving and working the lamp when i spotted eye's way up the field told scaffy it looked like a fox so he jumped out and got his 223 ready. He was having difficulty picking it up in his scope so i tried squeaking no joy so i drove up the field to about 100yds and it just sat there watching that was the last thing it saw he shot it straight through the bottom jaw... We packed up around about midnight with 1 fox and 45 rabbits.... PS forgot to add it was a small vixen  Edited August 9, 2009 by hawkeye
