243win
Trapper videoed a buck and doe rutting on friday evening whilst waiting for a fox(he shot two) so we set up last evening in the same area. Two sets of calls on the buttalo and he emerges 400 yards away from a standing wheat field and makes his way steadily down the farm track untill at 125 yards he stands broadside and that is that. The result a nice two year old five pointer. Happy days

243win
You could say it is an educated guess . I go on the deers body size, the size and shape of his antlers, pedacles and tooth wear. The only real way to age a deer is to cut a cross section of the tooth and get someone with a micrascope to count the rings, a bit like ageing a tree!!! GatGun
Well done. I missed an opportunity on a good buck last weekend as I lost sight of it for a split second as a couple of does ran across the crop into the woodland behind me and drew my attention away . Nice looking beast.
