MJN
When I was an angler, it was expected of you to kill any pike you caught, when did this change and why?

pegasus bridge
some match anglers still have a 'kill all' attitude to pike - based out of ignorance - pike are generally self regulating and do a good job clearing up dead and diseased fish - helping to maintain a healthy head of fish Edited August 27, 2009 by pegasus bridge
Axeman1984
I work for the environment agency and was doing some work on the lock where the 40 foot starts not so long ago, and to be honest the only people we saw go fishing along there was some young lads
pyr8
the biggest pike are to be found in the best trout waters, rutland etc.they realise they are essential for a healthy water.it was common practise in the past to cull all pike caught.that has stopped now, good news. hendersons
i think the people in the article were a bit quick to blame the eastern europeans with what appears to be no evidence at all. nick
