Blunderbuss
I bought a dozen flocked shells from fleabay which I've been quite pleased with. Trouble is they're starting to look a bit tatty after only half a dozen outings. Some have lost beaks and all are starting to lose their flocking, especially near the tail and around the holes for the wobble sticks. At this rate they'll be balder than me by Christmas which is saying summat! Are some brands better than others for this, or are they all the same? humperdingle
I've just bought 6 full-bodied Jack Pyke decoys... Haven't tried them yet, but I hope they don't do the same as yours!

The flock coating will rub off if the decoys are all in the same bag/sack etc. I wrap mine individually in carrier bags, bit of a pain to do but I've had mine for about 2 years now and they all still have their flock coats on
Cranfield
I am afraid balding flocked decoys and rotarys that break down after a few outings, are what you are getting a lot of on eBay at the moment. It does pay to get the equipment from reputable outlets that have a good customer service, so that if anything goes wrong you have some fall back. You can buy flocking kits that should enable you to repair your decoys.

I prefer just to paint my shells and full bodies with primer/humbrol and tippex and it hasn`t worn off and doesn`t shine.

Lancs Lad
Heres why flocking comes off.............to get plastic out of a mould what do you use............a form of anti sticky stuff. More often than not a silicone type of product. Now once this is used, albeit in a small amount some of the anti sticky stuff will stay on the moulded item and then create a base layer which once an adhesive is applied and flocked then you are left with a potentialy weak point. Very much why spray paint aint that great on plastic decoys and tends to rub off too........ Some decoys are worse than others.
