Fabulous day out with Old Farrier

Myself and Bluebarrels were invited to shoot as guests of Old Farrier yesterday, on a mega clay busting session on the Isle of Wight,

Bluebarrels met me at 06.00 for a for the hours drive down to the ferry at Southampton. A fifty minute crossing and hefty Red Funnel breakfast later, we pulled off to wait for Old Farrier to meet with us. Now you never know what to expect when using the internet dating site called Pigeon Watch  Our concerns were soon quashed as a Mitsubishi truck pulled up with a beaming smile from Old Farrier :good:

After a bit of an introduction, we drove past some glorious countryside to the clay shoot. Paul, a good friend of Old Farriers turned up to shoot with us. After a coffee, and a bit of banter, it was clear this was going to be a good day in great company

We had the luxury of the shoot to ourselves and after a chat with the shoot owner, more banter, we started on the sporting layout. By stand two, the ribbing and jibes were in full flow  BB and I using the 12g's, OF using a12g and at times a 410, and Paul using his 20g. The layout was superb and really gave us some thrilling shooting. Clearly the shoot owner had worked incredibly hard to provide us with such a great day.

100 clays later, we stopped for lunch. Down to the local pub for some good food and refreshing cold drinks. More stories, banter and even more ribbing later, we headed back to the shoot for the finale.

3 separate flushes had been arranged for us, which was truly the icing on the cake :good: In all, we shot something in the order of 350-400 clays :good:

We finished around five pm and after a bit of a natter BB and I headed back to the ferry for the drive home.

Now, its very rare these days to have a day like this and BB and I agreed it was truly a one off, The reasons I could list would go on and on, and in writing this I could not convey the spirit and atmosphere of the day.

To you, Old Farrier, It was truly a wonderful day out. Your generosity, humour and company made the day something never to be repeated. Neither Bluebarrels or I would be able to adequately express our gratitude for the invitation and all the effort and generosity you put into this, but thank you. :good::good:

Hi

This is where you get my side of the story

As you know I haven't been on PW that long and have tried to share a bit and help a few along the way

Anyway I read the posts and try not to judge and at Xmas I won a corporate day for 4 that's when I decided to pick from the forum 2 totall strangers for a day out

BB and turbo33 as you now know were the victims

Anyway it was all arranged by pm and a bit nerve wracking we met up on saterday

What a pair of top blokes absolute pleasure to be with

And they lived up to the posts they have put on here

I don't know if it was luck or if I chose wisely but they are truley genuine blokes

Anyway the shooting was good boy can that BB shoot 80 out of 100 on a strange ground with a SS

So from Paul and myself lads a big thank you for giving me a truley memorable day

A few pictures of the view from the clay ground for the rest of you

All the best
