first day out this year

I headed out yesterday afternoon for my first foray of the year on small stubble field cut about a week ago. There was about a dozen birds on it when i arrived. Not alot, but I know there is afternoon flightline under the field. I set up about 2.30 and shot til 6. The birds were pulling into trees quite often and I reckon I could have easily got a ton either by moving or staying longer. But 67 was enough for me. Nice to be out, I even managed to miss the worst of the rain.

Well done, great result but you should have moved it they were going to the trees. You are obviously happy with your result that's what counts. Again well done for the first of the year.

Sure I know pc. I was just happy enough to stay put. There's always next week. Unlike you guys I have a limited market for pigeons. There is no one in n ireland who picks them up. So, you are restricted to taking what you and your firends etc will use. I wouldnt want to shoot them and leave them lying in a hedge, so 100 plus bags on a regular basis, even if you could do it, just wouldnt be cricket as the saying goes.
