  1. We used to travel up from Kent every year for the Fenland Fair which as others have said was a small but very enjoyable day out. A sad day when it was discontinued. OB
  2. They’ll be quite a few on here that don’t know what the ‘Guzunder’ was, but many that clearly do and probably used one
  3. Many congratulations to you and your good lady. OB
  4. Saw and heard my first cuckoo of the year yesterday. Hi John, I`ve never seen seen a bittern but have heard a few out on the marsh over the years. Saw and heard my first cuckoo of the year yesterday.
  5. Saw one, just one yesterday, but not heard a cuckoo yet.
  6. I got quite excited the other day as I saw from a distance a field of recently drilled maize covered in `pigeons`. On closer inspection it was very clear that they were mostly stock doves with only one or two pigeons down feeding. Most frustrating. That field has now been gleaned of all the maize on the surface and not a bird to be seen. They (whether pigeons or stock doves) don`t take long to clear whatever has been left by these modern drills. Oh well, perhaps harvest time will attract the woodies. OB
  7. Love the display cabinet. Is there no end to your talent? They look amazing and knowing your quest for perfection no doubt they sound spot on too. Many thanks for sharing. OB
  8. Also a plain sidelock. Less is more in my opinion.
  9. Welcome to pigeon watch anyway
  10. That’s a cracking bag and a great write up. Just shows that reconnaissance is everything. Well done and thanks for posting. OB
  11. The cream of pigeon shooting. So very annoying when there’s so many stock doves about. That’s a good bag so thanks for posting. OB
  12. As had been said before, WOW ! What an amazing adventure. Many thanks for sharing and taking the time to post those wonderful photos. OB
  13. I think that you’ve made a really good job of that. Well done.
  14. Patent 330129 was taken out in 1915.
  15. Attached details of the patent for the forward trigger safety. Will advise the date a bit later when I`ve found it. OB
