  1. Sounds like a good day was had by all. Well done.
  2. Getting the thread back on track, I agree that the dog is far too young. Don't rush it.
  3. Well done both of you. It is a special moment when the training pays off.
  4. My dog was only 14 months when I last posted his photo so I thought I would let you see how he turned out.
  5. Well done mate, as you say "Better than working".
  6. Good write up and well done.
  7. Lovely looking pups.
  8. Nice looking pup. Good luck with her.
  9. Sorry for your loss, it leaves a big hole. As said already, only you can decide but I would if it was my only dog I would get another right away. You never replace a dog, they are all unique, you just get your next best friend. As to breeds, don't discount a labrador. They will also fit your type of shooting and they are the best dogs in the world. (IMHO).
  10. Well done. As you say - it's one less.
  11. I'm going Friday. A great day out and will probably buy heaps of stuff I don't really need. But it's only once a year.
  12. Nice set up, Pegleg31. What are the dimensions? I am looking to build a new kennel so I can get a second dog.
  13. I have the Baikal and love it. I went through the same thought process before I bought it and was trying to weigh up the Mossberg against the Baikal. On one hand you have 3 shots against the one but on the other hand the full moderator is a lot longer so should be more efficient. The extra shots would be nice but the Baikal does what I need.
  14. That should of course be a 35mm film canister.
  15. If you can find one, the old 33mm film canister with a few air rifle pellets inside works and is easy to pop in a pocket.
  16. If you are only getting one gun, I would go for the o/u. It is not out of place in any circumstances. I use an o/u for clays and game and a semi for hide work. As has been said before it is easier to load in a hide. Not so good on a DTL line though as some people can take the hump at empty cases flying past them. If you can afford it - get both.
  17. Got out for a while yesterday so thought I would hit the black stuff on the silage fields. Unfortunately found two problems before I started. Firstly there was only cover at one side and it meant setting up with a stiff wind in my face. Obviously would have preferred it behind me. Secondly, there were two fields cut this week, about a quarter mile apart so as soon as I started they p****d off to the other field. Never mind, such is life and it is still better than working. Set up at 11.00 with the hide on the edge of some trees and seven crow decoys in the field. Packed up at 2.30 with a mixture of Rooks and Jackdaws with seventeen in the photo and another five which landed in the trees behind so not picked.
  18. Nice looking bitch. Good luck with her.
