Hay folks Me and Mrs SS are going more and more to gamefairs now but also want to shoot at the shoots they usually hold. We dont wish to carry our guns round all day but if we leave them in the car we feel we should do our reasonable best to keep them safe. So is it possible to buy a gun safe for the boot of a car or is it cheaper to make one ? Has anyone bought one and if so how and where from ? If i make my own i will use steel cable to secure the safe to the car in the boot floor and the cabinet will lock by means of a padlock or fixed lock !

Me and Ms SS are looking for a first mortgage and with both wages at £15k ish (we are both 24) we ar looking at a max of £140k but if we only took £125k we would still pay back £850 per month (35yrs)which is massive ! and nearly a whole wage used up before any other bill. Not much room for new anythings at that rate let alone cartridges. Any other first time buyers out there ?

I wish some would come my way ! Pigeons seem to be nearly extinct in my area of shropshire. The best pigeon shooting i have is roost shooting in febuary and march where my bag is 6 - 10. The chance to have a day of 30-40 pigeon would make for the happyst days shooting of my life to date. theres the odd big flock but one shot and they are gone not to be seen again !

The catapult one looks promising ! May treat myself to one to so Mrs SS can get some practise in on some private farm land i have permision to shoot on ! Let us know how you get on.

With thanks to another PW member I have now found out more about this chap and should i have any problem with him in the future i will happily complain about him to the shoot owner. Apparently this chap is known to the shoot staff as "billy the liar" and that also he is not sponsored. Also my description was agreed to be be fair and accurate. Glad to of found this out as i can now put my mind to rest that infact the bloke was a muppet

I'm sorry but I simply don't believe you, I think you've "buttered it up" a tad, no sponsored shooter goes around clay shoots mocking other peoples efforts and rubbishing their equipment, it doesn't happen that way. His sponsor would soon pull the plug on him if he heard about it. Was this guy known to you, because strangers don't act that way..?? Cat. Cat, by the looks of things iv found out more about this chap thanks to another PW member who has also encountered him. And despite him saying that his gun was £4,000 and he was sponsered it turns out he isnt ( had he of been then i would of writen to his sponsors to complain about his mannor) And no i didnt butter it up at all, had you of meet him am sure you would of been equally as shocked. Hopefully someone else will come forward and vouch for me of this gentlemans behavior ! He shoots at the cross gun club kniver !

I know I could do with some taking off the combe of the stock but this gent seemed to have such an ego and big mouth telling me how good he was etc . Does this happen regurly on many grounds ? :blink: its people like him who sare newbies off, friendly help and advice is great and one thing but this just shocked me !

Hay folks just a quick rant to let off some steam ! Been clay shooting today with my brand spanking new Beretta Silver Pigeon S, the first time i have ever shot it . I havent had a session on the clays in 6 months now but still ........... 60 Clays 10 stands so 3 pair per stand. Any how I go to the first stand and by some fluke i staright it, 6/6 then stand 2 and 5/6 :blink: needless to say I was very happy ( only had mrs SS with me to mark and trap) and on a little high. But then a Gentleman came over who was shooting alone and proceeded to tell me that my gun was just a basic thing and nothing compaired to his £4,000 gun he is sponsored to shoot he then went on to tell me that my gun shot high and that i should either go get the stock altered or take it back to the shop for a different better gun ! I bit my tounge and didnt tell him where to put his choke key but needles to say he had watered my bonfire and my moral took a tumble leaving me with 3`s and 2`s on the rest of the stands so my total at the end was 30. What was this gent thinking ? Had it of been my first ever time shooting clays i could of been put off the sport completly ! Sorry to vent on here but has anyone else experienced this before ? Am not to sure why am telling you all but had to get it out of my system !

De-porting people should be done alongside removing folk from the countryside who are against the country way of life ! This is my opinion and no ones elses hope MOD`s dont delete it for any reason !

My money is on a badger ! as i belive they drag there bedding out every so often and it looks like straw on floor of the holes opening !

Thats my question to ! But i suspect unless your living together it will be individual cover ! Could someone confirm for us so that we dont go wasting money needlessly esp as i need to buy more cartridges ! It would be nice if they did if only for 1 year as it would be more benificial in the long run for new comers to the sport and encourage them to stay around and maybe for year 2 onwards take out the insurance for themselfs with BASC to !

So does anyone shoot Gamebore white gold ? Its a cartridge i want to try out ! I always used to think of them as a high end cost carteridge but now with all the price changes on the increase they seem a more average price ! Am having a call round later to see exactly who sells the cheapest in 28g fiber 7.5`s.

I have always liked the brand Rio, some say they are punchy but i get on with them. I Dont how-ever get on with express as i find them very soft and almost flat. Someone i shoot with swears by gamebore white gold ! I dodnt know how expensive they are but might give them ago ! New gun so maybe new ammo etc !

Hi folks am after a AYA yeoman 12b. the girlfriends dad also a shooter, who learnt to shoot with one and mentioned over the weekend he would love to have one in the cabinent to shoot once in a while for old times sake ! Any help would be great !

WDG that is beautiful I would be scared to take such a nice gun out ! So which oil do you recomend i use ? I thought that stocks always had some kind of varnish finish on them that would stop oil getting through !

Hay folks i just bought a brand spanking new Beretta Silver Pigeon yesterday I collect it in two weeks. But just to put my mind at rest that iv got an alright peice of wood could any one with a silver pigeon post pic`s of there wood so i have an idea ? Dad shoots to and has guns with beautiful wood on them even if they are worth more second hand than mine new......... but just dont want to hear from him that my wood is poor ! Also any tips for bringing out the best in the wood ? Especally the stock !

this sounds ideal ................only one problem ............... we arnt married so not my wife ! She`s my girlfriend (ATM) please dont go putting ideas in her just yet ! It will happen but not just for shoting insurance.

Looks like BASC for us then as neither or us will enter shooting comps ! We only have friendly compition between us and i rough shoot so that cover would be good ! or to keep costs down CPSA for the lady and BASC for me !

Hay folks Strange question but does mixy pose any dnger to dogs ? Little Bryn is wormed and given spot on to combat any little jumping creepy crawlys but is there anything else for me to watch out for with him when out in the feild and after ?

So £55 each for me and the girlfriend with CPSA ! How about BASC do they do a basic membership at a simlar price, again i cant find there prices on there site although they have to be there somewhere ! Many thanks catamong

12 weeks in west mercia 2 years ago and my girlfriend has just yesterday sent her application off her first ever Shotgun Cert........... so will keep you posted on that !
