  1. it does too,,,,,,,, my poor head, i am told it has a brass disk in the stock also, i do not know the calibre, the action has been taken and stored away from the rifle as there were children around, the old fella died and this is all we have to go on. Martin.
  2. thanks Pykie, saved the day, too many old ones to sive through, i think you got it... martin. now having said that, i have looked harder at the stock, there is a milled flute on the picture i put up, not on the wikapedia site i am looking at now. hmmmmmmm
  3. I had looked at that Dougy, very similar but i think the front strap is different, and the rivetin the stock is missing martin.

  5. guys, i have been asked to name this rifle, i have absolutely no bloody clue, kinda looks like an Enfield to me but what do i know ?? any of you experts help an expat ?? thanks so muchly it would save the world, or some other very nasty goings on for the long weekend anyway......... Martin.
  6. machinists, still get terrific machinist from the home land.......... and germany though............. still the Brits have my vote in engineering. Martin.
  7. Cat, are you going to New Zeland in Feb 2011? just wondering as you seem to be the globetrotter on here, come to that any others here going to the world sporting clays in NZ ?? just curious, me and my buddy are heading there, i think a few more from Alberta will be making the trip too, should be a good show i'm told, top fishing there as well. Martin.
  8. not a mention of a Krieghof K80 pro sporter?? lovely gun well made and well balanced, prefered over a Perazzi, my opinion anyway, shot them both and even though i have large hands i find the MX2000 among other models to be too bulky, i like the finer slimer lines of the k80, plus the ability to alter POI on the k80 does give it an advantage for versatility. other side would still be a Browning Ultra XS (325) one of the best of the shelf shooters ive come across. Martin.
  9. This will be the last i'm sure, i cant see them hanging around much longer. the whole fandamly turned up April 30th, a fine looking bunch to be sure. anyway, if they do, i post, if not i'm sure something else will peak interest. Martin. 30_april_4_owls.pdf

  19. i know most of us respect the armend forces and all they do and sacrifice, many many deeds go un-noticed for sure. the Canadians have lost another son, this time a little closer to home, one of our own from the Princess Patricia. this is Neils unit so i'm sure they as others are feeling a little vulnerable right now. i havent heard from him of late, but know he will be feeling low. a thought and a prayer goes a long way guys. Martin.
  20. cant agree with the coach there for reasons that he shold understand, what no one has addressed is how much you intend to indulge yourself in this sport, "big time" or "just for fun" you need to find a dependable shot at a club you feel comfortable with and let him/her direct you, you may find neither a berreta or browning suit you. listen to the advice of an experienced shooter at hand, go shoot with them explain what you want and then make an informed decision on your future in the sport. you need to be able to pick up a gun and feel comfortable regardless of cost or looks, it has to work for you, having a gun fitted is a wonderfull experience trust me, also an expensive one, as you said your budget is flexible but i'm guessing not to the tune of 6-7 k go have fun, 50 birds wont tell you whether a gun suits you or not, a few thousand may do. i have no idea of your experience but would guess an entry level, DO NOT GET BLINDSIDED BY COST AND LOOKS, enjoy the sport at your level now, when you feel the need to step up there will be many to help you. at your level i would whole heartedly sugest you go and have fun first, listen to good shooters,,,,,,,,, not club wannabees ,,,,, good classed shoters, they will help you more than you will beleive. for the coach, i hope you take no offence, i know what you say is your opinion to the best of your knowledge. for the record i agree with you on the cynergy, personaly i find it a difficult gun to shoot, comb height pistol grip drop at heel, all seem to be different, ihave heard of many guys here shaving of at least a 1/4 inch off the stock to get it to fit, and i recall the 50 bird deal, comments like "i shot the best 100 birds when i picked it up for the first time" are common. then it all went pear shapped. seriously 50 birds wont wet anyones whistle. you are a 686 man, i respect that, been there had them and shed them. never quite understood the liking for themreally, personaly an overpriced shotgun for the quality of workmanship i have seen. i have had the not to pleasurable experience of fixing more then a few,bad finishing, debris in the block, burrs on the receiver, gauled areas creating scratches and gouges,,,,,,,,, this is not to put down the Berreta lines, just my experiences, alongside the guys who's guns come my way to sort. there is an old saying in the manufacturing industry my friend, "anything that is easy to fix, was made easy to break in the first place" think about it ask any Hass user. i'm not firing shots and i hope the guys posting here understand that, i shoot all makes and models of shotgun, from Brownings to Berretas, winnies and Mirokus, perrazi Kreighoff, autos to O/U's, dont make a dam difference to me, it doesnt make me a good shooter, practice and patience will, understanding the sport and its diciplines, rules and levels. never lose sight of the fun side of the sport my friend, regardless of where i rank and how i shoot, every time i come in i have a smile on my face because i enjoy the sport. you ever get over here i have a few toys you can choose from Martin. now preparing sandbags for the barrage.
  21. Ditto to that LV, i laughed my cotton socks off watching them. good luck indeed. Martin.
  22. Lens color This really comes down to personal preferences. Lens for shooting glasses today come in a wide range of colors from dark gray or smoke to amber to purple. Some info on specific colors: Smoke, Gray and Gray-Green tints - The most common type of lens color. They are effective at blocking glare without changing color perception, making them a good choice for all-weather use. Gray is a neutral, or "true," color that allows the wearer to see all colors as they are. Gray shooting lenses do not enhance the target, but they are good in bright sunlight. Amber-Brown lens tints - Especially good at blocking the blue light commonly found in diffused light such as one might experience on a cloudy day. Amber can improve both contrast and depth perception, and is a good all-around choice for shooting or hunting. Yellow or Orange tints - Improve contrast and give a sensation of heightened visual acuity. So-called "Driving" lenses are usually amber or yellow-brown. Lenses in these hues block haze and blue light and enhance the orange color of the target. The brighter yellow the lens color is, the better it is for use at night. Purple-Vermillion tints - A light purple color, which is actually a combination of a neutral gray and a vermilion, is good for enhancing the orange of the target against a background of tall trees. Vermilion itself is useful to highlight conditions where there is poor background, such as trees, and to enhance the target against the background. If you haven't shot with purple or vermillion tint glasses, it does take some getting use to. taken from the randolph engineering site, good glasses all round. http://www.shooting-glasses-guide.com/shoo...lasses-lens.htm
  23. you must be one of the unlucky ones,,,,,, i thought i used to be i travwel in and out of the US pretty regular and other than abnormal delays and overbooking problems at the gate never had any trouble. not that i'm saying your wrong, a guy i know in the park is a baggae handler at Air Canada, he often tells of miss handled property, and of course there will be the inevitable "tea leaf" amongst all walks. as i said in my own experiences i have only had my luggage lost once, that in Hannover, lost being an incorrect term as it just never made the connection i did turned up the following day, as to the US, i have been asked to checked a carry on a few times, but after pointing out the "lightly loaded females" carrying a block of flats on board they quietly retreat . sorry to hear about all your problems John, i guess i have that to look forwrd to, i assume this is buisness taking you on these travels also? where do you fly in and out of? Martin.
  24. not really, lock it or not, no one will question it, having traveled many times with locks, not once have i been asked to open or remove them. i think it depends on the day really, as with any deterent, its only a deterent right. just flown from Edmonton to Montreal with two shotguns cased, not one check on the locks, identitiy or ownership, fill in the form that says is this unloaded? yes,,,,,, carry on then. i firmly beleive the airport security is more of a seen to be there phenominum today, too many trips with a not give a **** attitude from the departments that should care....... just my opinion.
