  1. great pics Neil, good to see the wife looking well, and the little guys, kinda grown a little, where was the meet? , been to a few pow wows southern part of Alberta and B.C great to see the differences in cultures. talk to you soon buddy. Martin.
  2. S.S. what kind of education do you have? where do you see yourself, work profile, do yourself a list of questions and send me an E/Mail to the following address . martin.usher@apollomachine.com i've been here for 16 years now, still a brit at heart but home is here, i could never get the standard of living i have here back home. any resume C.V. you have forward to me, if i know where you want to go, i can point and do some groundwork for you. that goes to anyone else looking for a change, at present i'm looking for qualified machinists, C.N.C. Lathe and Mill, Q.C. Inspectors C.M.M. Technician. any of the jobs i have listed will have the ability to earn up to and exceeding the $100,000, to the right person of course. this province is going balls to the wall in oil and gas, projected outlook is 15 years before any drop off, personaly i have never seen such a lack of skilled manpower, it is a fast growing area with more good than bad to offer. anyone want to send me resumes, theirs or others they know, they will be taken seriously i assure you. Martin.
  3. not really Mungler, greyhound have a good rep, this is an isolated incident thank god, the kid (22) i hope never knew what hit him, he was stabbed whilst sleeping and listening to music, a mindless act of violence which has shocked all around here, the kid had been working in Calgary and boarded here to go home to Winnipeg, thoughts and prayers to his family, they'll probably never know why. an ever-changing and scarier world we all live in, it can happen to anyone anywhere. Martin
  4. this will give you a better idea of choke in your barrels .000 restriction - cylinder .005 restriction - skeet .010 restriction - improved cylinder .015 restriction - light modified .020 restriction - modified .025 restriction - improved modified .030 restriction - light full .035 restriction - full .040 restriction - extra full The above information is relative to the diameter of the barrel/s you have. Example: - if one of my own Browning’s has a bore of .739†under barrel, using a skeet choke measuring .734†gives the required .005†constriction is correct “by the book†Now put it in the top barrel measuring .744â€, I now have a .010†constriction making my skeet choke an improved modified, this is why you need to know the size of your barrels. apply this to multi choke guns, "fixed choke" should still follow the above sizing Martin
  5. feel bad for all you tooth suffering brits, go around the world and see the reaction of dentists to good old UK national health work, after they pick their selves up from the floor laughing they proceed to right all the wrongs. i had all mine (and the family) done prior to leaving the UK for Canada, thinking the price would kill me over here, when i got here i had the same problem getting aches from the repaired teeth, had a plan form the company kick in and went to the dentist, not only a good looker but a good doc as well, showed me all the faults in mine and the kids teeth, i was told horrror stories of brits coming over with the nashers all messed up. these guys think Britain is still in the dark ages as far as health cares concerned. national health,,,,,,no thanks mate. Martin.
  6. not to sure of your rail configuration but i use bushnel red dots on my .22lr and .50 desert eagle, i'm sure you'll understand they work welland take the shock, the 50 knocks it around a little, no problem. http://www.opticsplanet.net/bushnell-airgu...riflescope.html asimilar to mine but the newer model, auto on/off Martin.
  7. as gordon said, great platform to shoot from, solid action, good steel to wood fit, older guns do tend to show signs of craking in the forend, one of the two i shot had a weird tendancy to "ping" between shots, dont ask me why or how, kind of like getting used to a vending machine when shooting. your other choice of the 525, another solid tool, newer so more life to it again pending condition and us prior, me i love em, Brownings all the way, looking at the new Grand prix for the next toy. Martin
  8. i see no reason to say they are in danger of following the above named members banned or otherwise. no profanity or slander stated, just opinions as far as i can see, no need to fuel a non existing fire. one makes an observation, the other ask's a question, every right to really, dont you think Tink?? Martin.
  9. not sure which one your after, i think the north american model has different engraving, you may find one here, plenty to look at. http://www.gunsinternational.com/results.c...0ASC&cid=47 Martin.
  10. nice sidearm Dave, why .45" colt, a preference or a requirement for use?? Martin
  11. must say the mustang is my choice, i dont think any of the older mussle cars handled well, the newer models with better tech and running gear do though. buddy here just got his Shelby GT500 mustang, bit of a waiting list but he's a happy camper now, nice looking tool goes like snot, i'm not sure if its a KR but its rated up there as the best of , $80/90,000 i'd like it to be good for him though, nice motor the Shelby. Martin.
  12. sounds like you watch a few shows from over here, the cops carrying weapons is not a bad thing (in my modist and humble opinion) having dealt with a few and knowing the thoughts of others its no different, tasers are not the answer, they seem to be the new weapon of choice for the boys and girls in blue, "non lethal" what a crock, its easier for the guys to pull the taser and zap you than pull a gun, the choices are now greater, the days of "my life was threatened" are now changed to "he gave me reason to use" national service was a great institution, to say the army doesnt want the junk/filth/garbage of the country is right, but if the discipline is there before the boy has a chance to go bad, is that not a good thing, me i think so, not all the apples are bad are they "An old world war two vet put it best in a letter to my local paper. Why would our army, one of the best in the world want to take every Tom **** or Harry scumbag layabout no good lay-about, when it's able now to cherry pick the best of the best" these guys think its still valid. The term National Service is still used to describe compulsory military service programs in countries including Austria, Mexico, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Israel, Malaysia, the Republic of China (Taiwan), Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland. Martin.
  13. just a quick hi to the Canadians on forum, Dan (NTTF), Neil (jcbrno) i think theres others but my old grey matter is failing me now. happy Canada day boys, have a good one and stay safe, especialy you Neil, most of the things we shoot at dont shoot back, be good and be safe guys. Martin.
  14. beautiful place and people Dan, loved every minute, going back xmas, stayed in a sandals resort on the Varadero peninsula, you got to check out the US embassy, they play L.E.D. messages to the cubans daily to warn them of the error of their ways, the cubans stuck a bunch of black flags in front of it seriously Dan, if you and the Mrs are going you'll have a blast, foods great and the rums better, for some apparent reason they dont seem to run out of it either,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,going back to investigate further :yp: never too many Mojito's where to in Havana ?? Martin
  15. you bend over in front of her to make the two club length rule , not this boy, seen the damage they do to vehicleswhen their ****** off bit like when i golfed in cuba, looked like a small lizard from 220yds it got to be a long tailed short legged sharp toothed green Jack russel when i got there took a drop 50yds back, dont think they can run fast on fairways :yp: Martin
  16. Dan, its great fun, its like making out with a lesbian, the harder you try the further away from the hole you get. i go out regular now, funny thing is last friday around 8-30pm ish two moose came tramping across the fairway, you dont want to tangle with momma moose, she carries a big bad attitude, we allowed her to play through . Martin
  17. fully understand your point Dave, i'd like to think i've earned my keep as far as my company is concerned, my point is the fact that there are many in this world that you and i both know arent worth the proverbial "**** in a top hat" but the fact is someone thinks otherwise and pays them, christ i recall being back home years ago driving for a small outfit earning a rather poultry sum of 200quid a week, a good friend of mine was pulling in the same at home on the old king cole? wheres the justice, i'm sure as hell i dont know. and to quote Mungler:- "If the lorry drivers are worth (in the open market place) what they are looking for then they will get it - supply and demand." this would i'm sure apply to many jobs, not just drivers, where there is demand, the value of increases, fact of life. Martin
  18. so general consensus is any driver who gets 40k is over payed, personaly if they get it good luck to them, i certainly wouldn't feel guilty, nor many others truth be known. Martin
  19. the life of a trucker was always thrill to me when i was a younger engineer, hence i took my class one and drove for a lot of years, all over the UK and Europe. tank drivers had a better than most standard of working conditions when i was gear jammin, cushty pay and hours, home most nights or days as the shift allowed, most of the squad i drove with were container drivers, how easy is that you say, drive in box off box on and gone again, sad to say reality is different, many nights spent in felixstowe docks or grain or barry or tilbury, very a pleasing areas to spend the night waiting for your hours to run out so you cant make it home god forbid the stupid delivery times set by peeps like "evergreen" "russel davies " and co. I wonder how many drivers actualy stay within the regulation hours??? i know i couldnt, not then, not that any other guys i knew did either. as to driving liquids around in a baffled tank, rather that than the 20 ton of bagged wine in a 20ft box with no baffles at all, sea sick or what. i drove for company in the south west called Febrys Transport, gone now as many are, ran out of the old Courages yard in Avonmouth, we ran allsorts, liquids, toxics, gasses, most of us were haz-chem trained as well, great times really. do i miss it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, very much so, it was a great time with a great bunch of profesional drivers(most were anyway) most people dont realise the dangers facing drivers everyday on the road, it takes a lot of skill to handle a tractor trailer in cities, not to mention motorways, respect to them all, not to disrespect anyone who's good at what they do, i do think they unsung most of the time though. Martin.
  20. right again Dan, took one shooting with me one year, never seen a guy with so little gun knowledge or respect in my life, hence he became a dog handler. the same with the armoured car brigade, they give perfect reason for not having a firearm, couldn't slap a cow on the **** with a shovel if stood behind it. Martin.
  21. very well put Dan, it's a shame it happened and i'm sure she will bear the responsability every day she wakes. the fact is it was not an intentional incident, as oposed to someone driving drunk home from the bar "regulary". Martin
  22. gentleman jim springs to mind, congrats buddy, you should get a long service award from the Mod's. Martin.
  23. take the forend stock off, inside where no-one can see take a razor blade or penknife and scrape a small area, if varnish you will see it's scrapings come of semi transparent as it crushes, if oiled you will see small amounts of grain and stain on the blade. normaly you can see the difference externaly, the sheene on the wood looks to good to be natural if laquered. thats about the only way i can describe, i dont have a stock i can attack for you and photo at the mo. Martin
  24. the only thing i can think of is the gun was double discharged through lack of holding, it makes you jump the first time it happens, the inertia of the gun hits the trigger a nano second after causing the second barrel to fire, i would firstly take off the stock and look at the mechanics of the selector, inertia trigger hammer, work the triggers against a stop and watch the action to see if anything has disloggeed or broken, a smith will sort out a major problem as said but still think a look yourself wouldnt hurt, it's nice to know why things happen. Martin.
  25. you are leaving yourself way to open Pavman, personaly i think your fine just the way you are Martin
