  5. try the Smith Woodhouse 10yr old too, none too shabby either, and of course as mentioned the Dows and Taylor Martin.
  6. Chard, i think you will find most longbows are handed, my buddies is for sure, normally the guys get them built to suit over here. i bought the wife a Mathews Mission Menace bow two years back, she loves it, a lefty like me though through eye domination. very easy to use, adjustable from 20lbs up to 50 lbs, she runs 38 lbs comfy and shoots good groups, mine is an S2 Mathews again, good equipment. great beginers bow is the Menace. martin.

  12. thanks for the replies guys, just to square one point away, i didnt start the company, my best friends Father did, i came over in 93 as a machinist myself. year later i was running the shop floor, couple of years later became plant manager, now part owner and director of the company. i have watched, and been heavily involved in making a small local machine shop grow into an large international one, we manufacture and ship down hole and directional drill tooling across many ponds, we are very proud of what we have accomplished, and are still growing, second plant open using state of the art laser clad technology,,,,,, basicly sticking hard **** to soft **** and m,aking it last longer down hole, our new robotics project in machining, all new and interesting stuff i can tell you, been here 19 years, never looked back. as i said, oportunity awaits those who look, pass on my contact info to anyone you think maybe interested, i will be home mid december, I can always make time to see someone. thanks again. Martin.
  13. hey guys, this may sound a little strange but i'm going to give it a go anyway, i hope the powers that be here allow it to stay on here for as long as possible. im still trying to resize the add Teal said i could put up for an international shoot here in 2012 at Silver Willows,,,, but i digress.... The main reason i am posting this is to look for Skilled CNC Machinists for my shop here in Canada. http://www.apollomachine.com/MachineSite/home.html i was back in the UK in August interviewing a number of guys, i offered employment to 6 on the spot, one is here and moving his family in the new year, the rest are coming January/February ish. i would gladly take more if i can find them, if you or any of your buddies fall into this catagory drop me a line, we could hook up on Skype and talk shop. take a look at the site and see what we have to offer, the oportunity for a better future is here, so far i have 6 Brits in, they love it here. im not saying its the be alland end all for everyone, but trust me its better than a lot i see when i return home. again, i am just asking that if any of you know please pass on my contact info and ask that they drop me a line......... thanks Martin. martin.usher@apollomachine.com
  14. been a while my friend, glad to be back, have been very busy over the last two years, keep forgetting which bloody country im in. and again in the big steel bird in 4 weeks. i did get to shoot with Neil and Steve last time home at Wells, B.I.L. also, you never know, some one may fell sorry enough for me and take out an old *** and show him how its done. thanks Cranfield. Martin.
  15. absolutely correct, not interchangeable on the INV INV+ a lot of guys use the extra length instead of longer barrels, myself included, its a swing speed thing, though not for all, again preference, i do use two Browning Ultra XS Barrel sets, one flush with I.C in both and one set with IMP Mod in both, quicker to change the barrels than chokes, i like the same in both barrels, especialy when shooting sporting with true pairs in close, having one tight and one lose tends to complicate things, i would throw in two I.C. and leave them there, less to worry about as you start off. just my thoughts. Martin.
  16. as the title says, i will be home in Bristol for my friends wedding, giving her away,,,, French so someone had to....... wondered if anyone shoots around there at this time of year, i did meet a few of the guys from here years ago down in Wells for a shoot. had great fun, if anyone is up for a meet with the Ex Pat Bristolian drop me a line, would love to blow a few birds up and maybe catch a jar or two after, dont mind where i shoot as long as i have time to get there in daylight, i know there are a number of places around the Bristol area, hmmm wont have a gun with me so maybe somewhere that rents. anyone up for it ?? Martin.
  17. worn G-Shocks since my dive days back home, early 80's, great watch, solid and take a good kicking, picked up a GW7900B-1 in August whilst home, wear it daily for work, though the autolight function bugs the **** out of me, will have to read the distructions for deactivating. still a good workhorse. Martin.
  18. what in Gods namewashe suppoesed to be doing in such a tight area, suprised H+S didnt get involved before, lucky no one was killed by flying blades........ Martin.
  19. If you just want a bit of bling and are not really concerned about the function of the watch then buy a Replica with a Japanese movement…It will keep going and going. Tissot also make some very nice mechanical watches at sensible prices. Be very careful as there are a lot of fakes out there. It is easy in fact to distinguish a real watch from a fake if you know where and how to look. F.M. i must admit to collecting watches myself, i dont know what it is other than the appreciation for a well engineered movement, i have a number of the big names and a number of the not so big, i think as F.M. says above, you develope a love for the finer works, some i my favorites believe it or not are my Kenneth Cole's, they just look so well made, Citizen, Tag, Bulova, Movado, i love em all sand will continue to collect the ones i like, nver really had the urge to pick up a Rolex yet,,, maybe one day. did get the Tissot touch Racing, a novel idea, knowing how Mike dislikes the battery type, you must admit its a fun one Mike. Martin.
  20. thanks Buddy, been a while since i was active on here, kind of miss some of the old names........ nice to get back, even if it is to nag at something..... ben a very busy time over the last two years, even took time to go home and wed a Lassie from Glasgow, great day though i say so myself,,, dam i looked good, she wernt bad either........ that'll get me a head butt im sure. work is busy, bringing in a number of guys from the UK, i have 6 coming over, one i picked up wednesday from the airport, still cant find the skilled machinists like they breed back in Blighty, still got room for more if anyone knows of an interested party, LMO in place. first thing this guy did was look at the pump prices, with Gas at $0.97c a litre its not bad, i filled the truck with 106 litres and he fainted apparently you sell your first born for a tank of gas.... having said that he is a little cold as we dropped into winter mode this week,,,,,, mercury is at -18c today, dropping to -26c over the weekend, and a Balmy +4 on tuesday, speedo weather i think. so where are all the old hats hiding, do i not see Lurcherboy around here anymore?? Martin.
  21. getting to that time of year where the office girls bring around a suitcase full of cards to sign, i hate it, writers cramp and the fact i'm a lefty with ugly handwriting. just need to get off my chest that this year the cards have changed......... gone are the words "Merry Christmas" and "Happy New Year" ........... now we have the Politically correct " Seasons Greetings" and " Happy Holidays" ...................... WHY where did all the Christian values go?? Who in GODS name gets offended at "Merry Christmas" for CHRIST sake, whats wrong with the world now............ GOD help us all, things are looking pretty Grim i say......... getting cramp writing Merry Christmas in every bloody card,,,,, theres a million of em..... going to be here till Christmas doing them........ sorry just had to rant a little.......... Martin
  22. http://forums.pigeonwatch.co.uk/forums/index.php?/topic/23397-under-ejector/page__p__227165__hl__%2Bworn+%2Bejector+%2Bsears__fromsearch__1#entry227165 found it, take a look at the wear on the sear, you will see what i mean by a missalignment causing excessive wear. i have used my 30's and 32" with IC's in the 30's and IM's in the 32's, i found it easier and quicker to change barrels than chokes, i still do. now i use a K80 Pro Sporter with IM's and leave it at that, too many things to mess with your head. upgrading to a XS sporter i would say is a good thing, again i am very Pro Browning where sporting guns run, they make superb shooting platforms. i like the larger bored barrels for felt recoil over hundreds of rounds a day shooting, and i havent found one yet that does not shoot where it points. now thats not to put any other gun maker down, its a preference thing, my K80 took nearly a year to marry into, i kept going back to the XS when i had a bad day. Martin.
  23. there is no issue other than excessive wear on the ejector sears, Browning make very close tolerance guns, hence the words production and tolerance, they will interchange well with little or no problems, i have 2 x 325 XS 1 x 425 gold sporting and 1 525, all barrels interchange and shoot, all set the triggers, as long as you keep the forend stock with the barrels. my only advise is to monitor the wear rates on your sears as i said, i blew out two sets over a season, it took quite a few thousand rounds but it happened, i dont know what your m,aintenance schedule is for your guns is, mine i replace starting each season, TAKE NOTE if you do that, dont do it yourself unless you know how to time them, this is a critical procedure, take it to a smith you trust. i have posted previously on this subject but i cant find it now, was a while back, there are pictures of the sears and what you will find in their wear, take a look if you can find it, let me know if this helps. regards, Martin.
  24. Spaniel, long time no talk, you want Geese, come over my way and I'll get you a sea can full ov the bloody things........ How goes it with you my friend? Been a long time .... Martin
