  1. go to the library and ask what they can get, then look though them all and pick one that suits you. i got dvd's and books and i knew nothing, still dont really, but one thing i noticed was all the trainers contradicted each other and confused me big time. i found a guy local that seamed to know his stuff and was a great help to me. so i would say to try and find someone local to you that can see the pup and help you out. Your cocker is the same ages as my boy. 25th oct mine was born. atb Phil.
  2. Is that a white star i can see on the head. Mine had one when born and upto about 3 months then it flee off.hehe. he has 3 white hairs there now so there trying to come back, if i didnt know better i would say you nicked me dog what a cracker ATB Phil
  3. what is it about Grimsby On the roof
  4. go get on his roof and dance around busting tiles. bet his mum will soon drag him down
  5. donts go there. i had a few but farmers got two more people shooting the place as well as the other 5 million. i had enough birds to go on the rotary for Saturday and for the flappers and bouncers but Saturdays cartridges where cold and didnt fire as fast and the sun was in my eyes and the moon was just past full and and... ... OK i was **** and couldn't hit a thing. i had to phone a mate and get him to take over just to put a dent in the population. still i enjoyed a good couple of high birds and watch him hit a stupid high one. i had crows on the sight tip and they just laughed at me. 3/4 choke left in the semi from roost shooting. i forgot to add that to the list.lmao. I will try again soon on the other farm.
  6. Gluten is the wheat part i cant handle.hehe. bisto best has lactose in it. Wife uses McDowell's thickening and knorr stock cubes for a quick gravy for chips and then if its a roast (which i live on) then its meat juice gravy. Mmmm. I like my roasts.hehe. Now you know why im a grumpy ****** most of the time. IBS the doctor says. still i can get out and about, people alot worse off so im thankful for that. just wist they would hurry up with these artificial disc for my back.lmao.. oh and im waiting to be 65 as i new a knew replaced.lmao. Get on with it Phil and stop moaning. all the best Phil.
  7. i had food poisoning from prawns abut 5 years ago. well all 4 of us did. my son was fist to chuck up, then 2 minutes after my other son and then followed by me. with me i didnt know what to put over the toilet, my bum or my head as it was coming out of both ends. i was shaking cold with sweats. this went on for 48 hours. my wife ended up with just the runs but then she only had a little of mine. my two lads bounced back quite quick but it took a week or so for me to feel a little better. 5 years on and i am now lactose, soya and wheat intolerant, i cant eat loads of different foods and it causes nothing but problems in the house. i havent had a meal out in 5 years. my wife has had to learn to cook without loads of differant foods. even something simple like gravy has to be made from scratch as things like oxo, bisto has wheat or lactose in it. i cant have a lot of medication, i have a knackered back from something else but because alot of tablets contain lactose to bulk them out and the capsules have lactose in them as well. Life is very hard now just because we stopped to grab a quick bite at a harvester pub. All the best Phil.
  8. if you need the help again dave then shout me and pup can help out most of the time/ would rather the picking up chances but if stuck then you have my number I hate being let down or being told one thing one day and then something differant another day. ATB Phil
  9. I did mine with quartering. every time i turned i pips and the dog followed, after a bit the dog was watching me for when to turn so i then used my hands to as well to point the way i wanted him to go. all i do now its to stop pip him and throw my hand one way or the other. he has also going into the habit of turning 90 degree when ever i pip the whistle. all this just from quartering with him from an early age Don't know if its of help but works for me and him. ATB Phil.
  10. I'm very Religious about cleaning the rim fires. i clean them all the time with another round down the barrel. i pulled a bore snake though once and my gosh it took a bit to get it on the mark again so now they only get cleaned with another rounds. Bolt gets stripped every week though as its a ten minute job to strip, wipe and put back together and a SAK mod gets done often as it cakes up quickly. Phil
  11. My lads it a pet, bought him to get the kids over a fear of dags as we had a terrier that went potty and bite everybody. Bought from a working background with well over half the lines are FTCH. this has given me a hot dog as im told but not having one before i wouldn't know. in the house he is the best pet you could wish for, out the house he is getting there. he is 16 mths old and we do have our problems but out on a shoot last week he was well behaved. out pigeon shooting with me he is great, out rough shooting he needs more work. roost shooting he is just out for a walk in the woods. I get comments all the time on how good he is but hese are from pet dog owners. in my mine he needs a hell of a lot more work but then he is a house pet and a field dog all in one so he is 50/50. this to me, means that his training will only be as good as 50/50. He is my first dog ever, apart from the terrier that we picked up from a shelter and she has to go bad(didnt like kids) Before i bought my pup i said to myself that this one will be the learner and the next one will be better and the one after that better still. i have ordered my next pup from the same breeder as i dont want to stop at one. If i can find a part trained dog, not bitch, then i will take that on as well as long as it is house trained and no aggression. cockers and labs are two different beasts so you will not calm the cocker down with a lab. Something i was told a while ago. a cocker is a little person, a lab is a lab. stick with it mate, dont push so hard, but at the same time your the pack leader, your pup is at the bottom of the ladder. what you say goes. If you do go down the route of calling it a day then please look me up as im only up the road. Sorry if this is a little all over the place but a night on jack dans has taken its toll and im one eye typing.hehe ATB Phil.
  12. Had a browning hunter gold that was a good gun but i had to use the 70mm carts, changed to the Beretta Urika 2 and never looked back, i clean it sometimes but most of the time i put it by the radiator to dry then bung it in the cabinet and then take it out next day, put it in the sleeve and go out shooting again. if it gets wet with rain then i take barrel off and wipe the rain off then a quick wipe over with an oil rag. Still looks new but then i bought the black synthetic for this reason. would i buy another one if this one wore out. .to right i would. Phil.
  13. all fingers and thumbs ay.hehe. get well soon matey. Phil. PS: wife just asked if it was a goose you shot.lmao.
  14. adult time we call it. 8pm they both get ready for bed. 8:30 both in bed. the older one can watch tele or read until 9pm school nights and 9:30 weekends. one is 9 and other is 12. there is no arguing, thems the time, get in to bed or else Phil.
  15. did you get any photos... ..get well soon sir. there's no pigeons around at the moment anyway so your not missing anything, honest Phil
  16. Your first pic or pike? Nice colours there. Where was it from Mike? I do like the winter piking, had a few last year off the wye. my brother had a 24lb a few weeks back while we were barbel fishing the wye. swim stitched off so he popped a joey mackerel and a set of trebs and dropped it in. pike had the last laugh on him though as it thrashed as he was taking hook out, one hell of a cut down the pad of his thumb, wouldn't stop bleeding either. actually I'm lying....i had the last laugh, still laughing now just thinking about it. lmao. photo came out of on it though. Phil.
  17. Woodcock Snipe I had to go and look it up because i have never seen either up close. I wouldnt ever want to shoot one either come to think of it, its not my sort of thing. Phil.
  18. I cant see one. i check junk mail as well. Phil.
  19. well the snow isnt here yet but it has rained, none stop, all day. my brother has had snow most the day up in the forest so dave must be getting it as well. All week it is forcast for as well. Phil.
  20. Sorry guys weathers against us it looks like. tomorrow is going to have to be called off. I will sort out another day for the ones that where coming and there will be more days later as well. blooming weather Kind regards Phil.
  21. Lots and lots of snow and a big brush would be good. Been waiting for snow for ages as the kids love the sled but still none here this year yet. I dont know where A Bolt is coming from but if it is snowing that hard and heavy you might be snowed in so it will be down to just 2. the pup might have to stay in tomorrow as well as he is very brown after today and the wife is not happy.lmao. her fault as she didnt want him in the garden like most working types so now she has spent the last hour trying to brush him out.lmao. plus i have no coat for him yet as he gets cold as he still has no undercoat. clear skies here at moment. Phil
  22. Dave, great stuff. Bolt, not a problem. Catch you guys tomorrow. If anyone else whats and have gear then shout tonight. ATB Phil.
  23. Fletcher. if i can get the numbers then you can come in with me and teach me a thing or two. Bolt PM on way sir couple more people would be good as it would make better shooting to get the birds moving around. no guaranties on the bags size but its a suck it and see i guess as we know winter is not easy at the best of times. right im off out shooting another farm now so will catch up on here laters ATB Phil
