think i might have left this a bit late as its only 1 person so far . space for 3 more as there's loads of birds and loads of rape to try and cover (hope i havent talked these birds off.ha ha). 7 fields in all with a couple of them being rather large. 3 more hide needed. father and son or even mother and daughter or if its an experienced shooting wanting to bring a new lad along in hide with them then that fine as long as you have the insurance.

I walk all my land as i dont want to upset the farmers. one has told me just to go for it but i still will not as i would rather he sees me as a caring person. as said above, only use the tracks that the farmer uses and even then only if the ground allows it. Phil.

Dave your more than welcome. Mmmm Mince pies.... There is more then now that the last time but their still not flying a one big flock. ATB Phil

The birds are back again after the spaying. still not one bit flock but lots of smaller ones. but there was a good 1000 there today and still feeding when i walked back to the truck as 4pm. Have space for 4 more hides if there's anyone that want to come along. You might get a few Pigeons but then you might not so its winter shooting pot-luck i guess. Insurance and experience. Pigeons and black stuff only. Your own decoying gear. Full day up to 4pm (unless the birds are not playing fair) Some walking to get to spots but its not miles. Tuesday 29th 8:30am-4pm Gloucester Need to know ASAP so i can let the farmer know. Kind regards Phil.

getting used to shooting off sticks
activeviii replied to pegasus bridge's topic in Sporting Pictures
I use the tripod style ones the same as you have, took a little getting use to setting up but once you know what goes where then its quick. i use them for 222, hmr and the lr. i think the ones i have are something like x3m1 or something like it. only problem i found with the triple one is you need to tighten the nuts down and then back them of a 1/4 turn else your drop your nuts in the field Phil -

I have about 100 winnies and about the same of eley subs, i just let the kids use them for pinking but if you want a few to put though to see what the rifle likes then shout me as it might save buying boxes of everything like i did.haha. I use glos gun comp for my Eley Extras do you use a range or just one of your grounds? Phil.

Hello. i have the Cz 22lr. love it to bits, like you, i waited and wait, then waited some more for the cheaper one to come along. i got one in the end. after speaking to the gent i bought it from, he had been around the differant rounds and he came up with the Eley Extras as being the ones the shot the best. i couldnt get any so i tried the whinnies, i bought a couple of hundred and i still have most of them. the grouping was bad. i tried RWS and had the same problem but i let my sons use then pinking tin cans. the only ones that came close was Eley subs. i still have a few left but i had a text today from my gunshop saying that the Eley extras are on there way. so i have a few of them with my name on. can i ask what range you use as i have been trying to find one local that i can use. thanks Phil.

had the same sort of problem. i tried an alley way and back against a wall, all the little ****** did was stop short and sit there in stead. long line and shorter retrieves. all your after is the dummy back to you to start with so don't go giving the pup a 20yrds retrieve, you only need a few yards to start, use the long line and loads of praise to reel him in. this worked for me but everyone and dog is differant. this is what i was told by a few trainers around here as i didn't have a clue................... ...still havent.hehe Phil.

I thought this might be the case. the rape on a whole is massive but there's areas with different grade soil so there only just starting to grow, thats where the pigeons were, just hope they come back now Phil.

tape the sticks from your decs on to bamboo canes. 10p from garden centre. keep them for the summer for the standing wheat/barley. Phil.

Was watching the birds build all last week on one farm, the farmer sprayed the rape on Thursday, with what i don't know, but after that the birds were no where to be seen. even the flight line across the farm was void of birds. would it be the spraying, if so how long we looking at before the birds at happy t feed on it again. On a differant farm last year, after the farmer had spread slug pellets, it was a bout 3 weeks before the birds came back but this other farm i cant see any pellets so i don't know what it was. Phil.

i did my CZ last week and messed around with distances. I use Hawke calc as well just as a start. any way 42 meters will give me a zero at 100meters i use a cheap surveys 50 mtr tape for toolstation when zeroing so theres no guess in it. Remington 17gr. CZ 452. Phil.

I have the new remote u-caller. works well and battery lasts. i wasn't going to pay the extra for the extension speaker so i ordered one from fleabay for £5 and soldered a jack socket on it. works a treat. cant get it to work with any file other than a MP3, the sounds just click in any other format. other down side it the red led would have been a better way of doing it as it lights up your face when using at night so you have to tape it up. in all a lot of money for what it is and could have done a lot more with the design. saying that i bought one and use it to good affect. Phil.

oh yer! i forgot to add and apologize for the Teauge jumping the seats in the truck and onto your laps. hope he didn't get you to dirty.lmao. He is knackered now. i gave him a boost up drink and he bolted that down and then crashed in his bed. not moved since. he did me proud today considering it was his first full day in a hide, or out under a gun even. i know he will be fine on the picking up now.
