  1. Sadly I have personal experience of the TB, and the effects it can have on farming, to the point that my other half's father has out of 150 animal last year he is down to 15. I will not go into this as I don't wish put on a public forum the whole sorry details, but they were not cattle. What has surprised us was that our animals are not in contact with cattle, there is no boarding farmer that has cattle that come into contact with our animals. Our animals do not leave site unless sold. Which sadly hasn't happened for a few years now. Anyway the point of my post, is that I don't believe shooting badgers will have the right effect, they are a family animal. If shooting were to take place it would be difficult to make sure that every badger from one sett are shot. If this particular sett has BT then the remaining animals would go feral and possible fight with other badgers from other sets, thus infecting a possible clean sett. In my opinion greater investigation and science should be put into working out which setts are clean and which are not. In one area on the farm we have a valley surrounded around the top sides with woods, the whole area is 35 acres. In this 35 acres we have no less than 5 different setts. From the amount of walking/shooting/working I do in this particular valley the setts vary on how clean they look. Some are very clean, grass straw not left around the entrances to the holes, the lavatories are further from there holes and they appear cleaner as in they are quite particular about were they are doing there number twos. A couple of the other setts are nothing like this, there is straw/grass all around the openings they are cr#pping just outside and around the setts and not clearing new earth out much or even re digging collapsed entrances as soon as it happens. If further evidence can be found to be able to tell the difference between a 'clean sett' and 'dirty sett' then would it not be easier to eradicate the dirty setts by surveying areas (gassing)? If this doesn't work then shooting could be the only answer, in terms of cost, the government don't appear to be interested dealing with the matter once and for all. Which is a shame because it is spreading faster and faster. I'm also aware of domestic animals (cats and dogs) being treated for the disease, and a particular abattoir dealing in a lot of horse meat and finding it in them, this was kept quiet by Defra.... It would take a human death for Defra/government to investigate the issue fully.
  2. Well replaced the front left with the new Grabber AT which isn't too bad but money is tight this month so fitting the other front Grabber AT next month... £130 each not too bad.... Oh for reference I have Shogun DiD 3.2, which has been faultless and very good off road. Its up too 150k and never gone wrong.
  3. Sadly not a myth had a blow out at 70+ on m42 on monday on front left, i can't replace it with another At2 as not made anymore because of EU ruling. Rubbish, although BFG AT are still just ok according to the EU?!!! So have to replace both front set with normal Grabber AT's which is going to look a little odd... So from only looking to replace one tyre I need to replace both fronts! Anyone have any other suggestion?
  4. Posted this on the direct line post, more useful on this topic- Just a word of warning, my folks had a fire a number of years ago, there house insurance were very difficult about guns as they should have been listed as separate items. Fire was in the same room as the guns. They happily paid for re painting the house, new carpets and everything else running into the ten of thousands, but the guns they had real issues with. I would strongly recomend that anyone let the insurance company know you have guns and how many and value. Could save alot of heart ache. To add to this one gun was english and worth more than £2500 and to repair it was touch and go, if it failed the proofing then they it would mean trying to get them to pay for a new one. Getting a true English gun made to same quality would have cost thousands...according to the gunsmith. Lucky for them it passed.

  6. Looking at the picture/map there appears to be alot of cover, cover crops look like a separate thing!! Looks nice country though. Anyone got prices they pay per acre?
  7. Afternoon all. I don't post much by read alot of what you guys put up for information and advice and was wondering what people thought of this? http://www.smithsgore.co.uk/property-to-rent-tetbury-1242153 I have been sent the details through and think is it very steep for a very small amount of land. Although I can see the for pheasant shooting the ground looks very good, but £7000 per annum seems very steep...almost £20 an acre! Has anyone got any thoughts? Also does anyone pay this sort of money for their shoots? Spaniels

  10. I hope so, just found out today that my inlaws aplaca's are to be slaughtered. They had 150 this time last year and now there is only going 8 left after the last test....Sadly every farm in the area now has TB or has had and it keeps coming back.
  11. He's gone!!!! On his way to Buck P.
  12. i spend alot of time reading posts on here and find alot the kdubya says as suspect, however i stand back and can only salute you sir in your wording as a true understanding of what is happening here. Mandy is busy steeling our country for there own ends and people can not see it. Lib dems are finished should they ever join with cons or liebor. This country in THE current financial situation and its OWN financial situation, needs strength from it people voting in one party not one party with another. The euro was so close to falling apart, so much so that the germans are now worried so we then have Flash G standing in front of number 10 suggesting that by standing down he is helping the country....bending over for the lib swingers, leaving the country with yet another unelected PM, just to be able to hold onto power. Pr1ck. Sorry the whole thing is so amusing i can no long contain myself!
  13. Hope this works, v funny, almost a fight on live TV!! Boulton and Campbell!!! (two daft people..one more than the other) http://www.twitvid.com/MSJH1

  15. I very sorry there were only two bitches in the litter, i had one and a friend who been after one of mine for a long while. He's lovely now 13 weeks, turning out well, should make a great gun dog.
  16. Liver and White dog pup for sale, KC reg. Legally Docked and dewclawed. Working parents, mother and grandmother can be seen. 5th generation of my own line of spaniels. £450 including vacs. Either Glos or Leicestershire. Would make great working dog as well as pet.
  17. I have an N97 after my N95 went down river fishing the other week Mine doesn't rattle but can i connect to my computer.....just doesn't seem to work, i really need it to, i'm still waiting for nokia to ring me back about it! Good phone though, much better than the N96 which i also have.
  18. Hope this helps...and not make it more difficult I have a shogun 3.2 equip leather auto etc. I have done 45k miles in 11 months serviced once, motorway as well a lot of off road work, i fitted AT Grabbers all terrains which hasn't really effected the road noise or handling, if anything handling is better and they last longer than road tyres. It's a dream to drive with the auto box and cruise control. Great for towing. Only thing i would say is Mits are expensive to service with dealer, independent is much cheaper (same with most cars). I have 4 dogs soon to be 5 and carry alot of kit and there is tons of room, had 2 discos and they were not as cheap to run and needed better care and attention keeping them running. Mines done 116k now and have a friend whos has an ex highways agency one with 240k on the clock and no problems towing horses the whole time. I will add that when i'm off road, i'm really off road and wouldn't expect a smaller 4x4 to be able to get to some places... if your not doing that sort off roading it easy and cheaper with the xtrail.
  19. Hi Dave PM me and might be able to help. Thanks Spaniels
  20. Thanks you all for your thought on this. The area is spring fed and is not a major stream but is always flowing i.e. bog grass with water flowing though. We would be contacting the EA over it anyway but as far as grants are concerned there may well be money available will have to wait and see.... I would have thought trout would be best suited but would have to see what the water tests like and maybe get some one to manage it as part of a syndicate...the area would very difficult to poach as we are v. remote, i.e. along way from any major road but viewed from the house. My only concern is amount of earth works required cos we dug a very small pond a couple of years ago with out any lining at all which holds water. With a bit of luck we may be able to do it with out lining with clay.... Any how thats all for you info. Spaniels
  21. Thanks Markb I have plans to do that at some point. You are of course right about putting fish back for course fishing... I did used to fish alot when i was younger and enjoyed trout fish the most so i would prefer to do that with a syndicate...Just have no idea about how, re the costs etc...
  22. Out of interest what are people on PW voting.... I have voted no.... Because if hunting is returned back to the way it was then the next time is banned they will do a better job of it....at the moment most hunts (I'm supporter of hunting BTW) seem to be passing hunting as normal but within the law. Which yes makes the law look v stupid, but if it were to be repealed and banned again they would tighten the loop holes allowing it to continue as it is now.. If it is left as it is now i can't see that the law will be changed again. BTW i'm not an anti or anything like that just my thoughts and wonder whats other are...
