  1. That`s why i asked if he liked marmite, all down to personal preference, kind of a suck it and see decision. He can`t go wrong whichever way he goes.
  2. Would be good to get at least 4 of us together, makes it easier taking turns scoring while someone else presses the buttons.
  3. Hmmm Do you like Marmite? It is a case of personal preference for alot of people, most get .22lr to start but then get a .17hmr then find they pick the .17hmr whenever they go out and watch the .22lr gather dust. .22lr is very cheap to buy ammo for £8 a hundred ish depending on how fancy, range 70 yards, available in semi auto and cheap to moderate. .17hmr 120 yards flat trajectory, ammo £20 a hundred but usually more like £25 ish, single shot only, can be moderated but not as effective. EDIT:- Personally speaking i would go .17hmr as it`s mainly bunnies.
  4. Lead oxidises, on the pellets will be a fine powder, this powder if ingested will give you lead poisoning, which i believe gives you brain damage.
  5. Place is called Martin Gorsewood, they shoot alternate Sundays 29th march is the next date, this sunday is a trophy shoot so can be abit manic plus i`m target shooting this sunday. Yes it is cheap but a very good venue, fibre wads only but an excellent layout which always changes, if you don`t have fibres then i have a few thousand Kent velocity 12guage 28 7.5`s that you can buy some of £14 a hundred. or the do eley firsts at £4 ish a box on site.
  6. If any of you Kent lads on this topic fancy a meet up at one of Kents least known best venues give me a shout if you fancy a drive Dover way. £20 for 100 clays DIY electric traps go round in your own groups at your own pace and have fun, Also great breakfast hut on site and tons of parking. I get down there as much as i can.
  7. 3 or 4 chaps at my shooting club have Italian made .22lr AK`s with 30 round mags. another has an mp5 .22lr
  8. The theory behind a semi auto is that the gun uses the recoil to pull the bolt back eject the spent cartridge and chamber the next round, once this process is performed there is very little energy left to produce recoil. this combined with a 24g cartridge is very soft or i use 32 and my over under would hurt after 50 rounds i can put out over 100 with a semi and not feel it.
  9. My main landowner has drilled his beans to a depth of 5 inches, this means there isn`t much shooting to be found on them. Was speaking to him today and he has drilled maize for cattle feed and has drilled some barley, never shot over these crops before, is there anything to look out for or advice on the better crop etc. My rape fields are all too big now as he has dumped alot of nitrogen on them which is well and truly kicking on making it too big for the pigeons to land in.
  10. All the bean fields on my permission were drilled to a depth of 5 inches!!! this means that there has been no shooting on them.
  11. Thankyou ROFL, that comment made me laugh after a long day in the field.
  12. OUTSTANDING!!! Trouble is i hope that it doesn`t go the same way as Over there and get axed by the powers that be in America.
  13. Pigeons & Rabbits mainly but during pheasant season as a reward i get to have any stray pheasants that wander onto his land so long as he gets the first one of each bag. Also luckily for me my rifle club is located right by the land i shoot on , so i can target shoot then wander off and shoot on my land with my rifle or shotgun.
  14. I have about 3000 acres but it is shared except no ****** ever turns up except at weekends and even then they turn up saturday all at the same field because you can drive to the decent spot for a hide, if the spot is taken they just go home, i however shoot during the week odd days and i get first refusal on where i want to shoot at the weekend if i fancy it plus the farmer lets me use his quad to get my kit into the fields with no tramlines but can scoot around the edge.
  15. I don`t hunt foxes but for him a few ounces of buckshot up the ***** wouldn`t go amiss.
  16. i use the spine of my knife to dispatch any wounded birds, it`s a 6" blade heavy survival knife so it does the job quick, still take my shotgun with me on a sling safety off, i just press the magazine feed button take the round out of the chamber and then if i need a quick 2 shots i release the bolt which automatically chambers a round. The only weird thing i had happen was happily shooting with a semi auto and though had better have a quick bit of housekeeping to clear my shells, found 4 but 12 were missing thought they may have roled downhill under some rape leaves no sign went back to the hide to grab a drink bent over and 12 shells were wedged in my netting. Also shot a pigeon at about 30 yards removed everyone of his tail feathers which drifted to earth no sign of blood on any of them and the ****** just kept going.
  17. I`m usually down Greenfields on a Tuesday or Sunday or i really do recommend Martin Gorsewood up my neck of the woods. Usually i am out on my land shooting as it`s cheaper than clays
  18. Exactly seeing as most people buy minimum 500 at a time i think you would need a huge top section to fit even half that ammount in, al you need is an army surplus artillery shell box drill a hole and stick through a padlock if your worried about little johnny looking around.
  19. Just to give you a guide fireworks can be set off upto 11pm any night. Any person moaning at you shooting at even 8pm would only be able to claim a statuatory noise nuisance to your local councils environment section and it is down to them to investigate, but as 8pm isn`t terribly late and your not doing it every night you should be fine, however be very carefull of parents with young children as their bedtimes are 6/7pm.
  20. Cheers, Back to plan A & B it is then
  21. I have been told about this car but it has a broken cam belt, how easy is it to replace DIY style and how much? or would it be better getting it done properly by a mechanic? and what sort of money would that cost? My other question is that if the cam belt is broken i`m guessing driving it would be a no no so i guess i would need a mobile mechanic.
  22. Crazy thing is the Frontera and sportrak are about £300 difference in price which isn`t bad, insurance on the daihatsu 1.6 is the same as the frontera 2.5. Trouble is i much prefer the frontera due to it having alot more room and don`t have to worry about folding seats up etc. What makes it worse is that i have now been offered a Frontera 2.0 sport 3 door for £900 on an R plate.
