Yes they do migrate. I can remember this discussion going on in the shooting Times magazine back in the late sevenths early eighths .

In Hereford on a estate I shoot on there are a lot of pigeons on barley stubble.shot 38 last week and 65 this week. I must have seen 400 plus birds about the area. It was very quite in the summer and the birds did not hit the peas so hoping they will hang around for the winter. There is very little wild food in the woods and hedge rows. So I think that the rape will be hit hard this year or the birds will move south down through Europe if the weather gets hard.

Thanks for the comments The lab is my first lab I have always had spaniel,terriers, Dacshunds and running dogs and she is a cracker. She is quiet in the hide and has a good nose on her. The spaniel is getting on and she is also quiet in the hide and picks up well. olddogfox

I feel no guilt's long as I made the kill as quick and painless as I can. I have been hunting and shooting most of my life 36 years and I still love it. It not so much the kill but the hunt and it always have been for me. I could shoot a deer out of a truck window but I do not. I will drive passed and then stalk back and try and get the deer then. If it spots me and runs away so be it. It is always there another day. If I have to kill vermin I will, but if it can be eaten then I will make sure that it is used. I have tried different types of shooting air rifle, centre fire rifles,shotgun and bow. I have had working dogs all my life. Do I feel sad when I kill something.Yes I do but I love this game and it is what I am and what I do. Olddogfox
