  2. The barn owl will soon get used to the shooting. We have a barn owl in a barn on the estate I shoot on and people come and go and we shoot around the barn and they still reared there owlets. Wait until they have left the nest box and move it out of the way to another site where it will not be in the way. wildlife soon get used to people and there activities as long as you are not chasing them all the time or disturbing them when they need to rest. olddogfox
  3. 410 will ok as long as you keep the range short. Why do you not try the 28 gauge with a 19 gram or 21 gram load. The 28 gauge is one of the best patten gauge shotgun out. I use a 28 gauge shooting over decoys for pigeons and I have been impressed with the way it kills. olddogfox

  5. I hope we start getting bit of action soon. Because the season started off slow at the moment. Pigeons where about but did not decoy well and now they have gone very quite. olddogfox

  7. I have a friend who shoots in South Dakota and where they shoot they are all wild birds. When they shot there last year he said there was ten,s of thousands of wild pheasants. They have a bird limit of cocks only and there are about 20 guns out and they did not start shooting until midday and are finished in a couple of hours. olddogfox
  8. No different than shooting ducks or geese. As long as it is legal no problem. People who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

  18. I love the 28 gauge. I have a benelli in a 28 and they are sweet to shot. I have shot a lot of pigeons over decoys and have never felt under gunned when my mate is next to me using a 12 gauge. I would use 21 to 24 gram loads that is what a 28 is for and more than enought for pigeons over decoys.
