  1. She sounds like a right uppity boot - more of a boiler than the one that got nicked, I reckon. She's probably just flexing her managerial muscles in a "You can't get one past me" over-compensating type of way, but I'd watch & shoot with this one mate. If she makes a comment like that again then advise her, in as friendly a manner as you can muster, that you don't take kindly to comments like that and it's the 2nd time it's happened. If she doesn't apologise there & then, tell her that you're considering initiating a grievance via your T.U. rep. I'm guessing you're with UNISON?
  2. What's the dangerous age? 4-oh, or have you passed that landmark? 1 sugar's too many IMO: tea/coffee taste absolutely bogging with sugar

    BSA Air Rifle

Was it a Superstar by any chance? Not a bad springer IIRC.
  4. Hmm, a toughy: do you: 1. Do the decent thing & run it over then be hounded all the way to work with the cries of "Murderer" & "That's cruel!" being yammered at you by the very people that would let an animal suffer longer than is necessary in the name of kindness? 2. Phone the RSPCA/SSPCA in the hope they'll get there fast enough to alleviate its suffering? 3. Drive on...... You're damned if you do - damned if you don't here
  5. Typical borderline sociopathic muppets.
  6. I'm scared to even touch them without an NBC suit on

    Midges

Clean feet for a kick off: smelly feet attract them (pheromones). I make my own concotion using water, citronella, clove, lemon, grapefruit, eucalytpus, camphor, tea-tree and about half a dozen other smelly essential oils my wife keeps in a big box. Works for me.
  8. Just found this thread... and what a random find it is I have a dozen or so Dorset Naga seeds in a polythene bag in my freezer: any tips on these? More to the point, are they actually any good for anything other than homemade MACE?
  9. Hmmmm..... I tuned a .177 HW80 about 20 years ago (a home tune involving threading the trigger block, re-boring the transfer port etc, etc... some of you may be familiar with the blue-bound booklet giving instructions from back in't day.) It was wayyyy over the legal limit: I was young & fresh out of the army at the time and to this day that 80's in bits up a loft. It could take rabbits and woodies out at 60 yards but it was very fussy about which pellet it shot: soft pellets just flew all over the shop if they hadn't already burst in a cloud of silver when leaving the muzzle. What I'm getting at in a roundabout way is I knew my gun was more than capable of clean kills at long range so I had no issues taking those shots. Why, with a gun that was meant to be just under 12 and therefore highly unlikely to produce such results, would you attempt shots at that range if you didn't have an inkling that it wasn't within legal spec?

    48 OZ STEAK

I'd love to have a stab at a steak that size but I lost all my back teeth on my upper jaw after an accident and I now look like Red Rum when I'm chewing. Steaks have to be fairly dainty for me these days.... but still rare

    £80,000,000

Man Utd buy him for £12.2m. 6 years of playing and a shedload of goals later they sell him for £60m profit. Bargain of the century.
  13. Nice one mate. Not long since back from a wee wander myself & the old saying is true: the sights you see when you've not got a gun. The place was hoaching with woodies and the rabbits were practically giving me the 2-fingered salute. Tiocfaidh ár lá my feathered & furry firends

    Missing posts

Aaah... now I'm in the picture. I posted a few replies via a proxy when at work last night and had a bit of a ***? moment thinking I'd broken a house rule somewhere

    Hi all

Cheers for the warm welcome folks
  16. Evening all. Well, as the title says, I'm from Dunfermline (just north of Edinburgh). I've been away from the shooting scene for 15+ years or so, but I've just recently been re-bitten by the bug after having used a friend's AA S410 recently. Weapons owned at the time were springers (pre-charges were still an expensive and, to me, faddy luxury back in my hey-day - how times have changed ): an HW35 (still in great working order after almost 25 years of use but now residing in a mate's house down the borders til I persuade him to part with it) and a home-tuned HW80 (now lying in bits, wrapped in oily newspaper in my mum & dad's loft - dunno if I'll ever get round to putting this Humpty-Dumpty together again as its legality would still be in FAC country.) I used to be an armourer in the REME but had always been a tinkerer prior to serving 20 years ago and, after certain tragic events that took place in this country of ours, I became a firm believer that guns should generally be kept out of the hands of the civvy population. But - older, wiser, more mellowed - yadda-yadda-yadda, I'm now keen as mustard to get back into my old boots and go creeping around looking for rabbits & woodies for the pot. The things you'll eat during a global financial crisis, eh? So, there you have it: a quick biog & a big hello. Egg (Stevie)
