  1. Hi mate

I see and hear this everyday as i work in the car repair industry, do not accept what the insurance company or any of their "approved" repairers say :/

Best advise is to go and get an estimate from a reputable local bodyshop/garage for the damage and present this to the insurance company, if they kick off on the usual lines of you must take your vehicle to their specified repairer tell them to f### off :good: as it is your legal right (under the eu block exemption ruling) to choose YOUR repairer for YOUR vehicle.

If you have any probs getting a quote in your area, and if you fancy a trip over to sunny Gloucestershire i am more than willing to give you an honest Quote on the damage.

    Best of luck

P.s if you fancied a sunday morning jaunt could even sort out a round of ESP clays.

Cheers quality advice I have sent a email to the so called engineers and told them to stick it anyway as I would rather sell the car as it is myself.

Cheers OTH and may take you up on the ESP clays .

  2. Right boys after last sats trouble with attempted tacking of our much loved scobby twin turbo legacy .

The insurance companys guys came out and said that its beyond repair etc.

But they have asked me to send all the scobby history and sign the log book over to them :good: .

Is this correct as I have not agreed a value with them they say they need the details I say ********.

I think there trying to pull a fast one as the scobby is perfect bar the ingnition barrel .

    Whats your thoughts

    Cheers in advance OTH

  3. My question is do you take a pack lunch to work or cant you be bothered.

The reason I ask I have just got back from the garage and ever time I am in there at 7am the brickies etc from a large site are there buying rolls drinks etc.

They on average spent a tenner each this morning now I know thing are tight I always take sandwichs etc as its so much cheaper but other still seem to being spending money on cooked food which equals VAT on top .

So what do you guys/gals do.

    Cheers OTH

  4. Some of tha advice about is incorrect they can change the contract to whatever they like.

BUT must give 3 months legal notice to do so this gives the employee time to either adjust lifestyle of seek another job.

    Regards OTH

  5. The original poster can go out for the day charge £1k to trim 3 leylandii trees and no risk. Farmers have to cultivate, plant fertilize and spray and then hope it all turns out well in the end, in practice weather, fire and disease and all sorts can turn a profit into a big loss

    Yes I can al4x

But I have earned and worked my way to where I am today not been given it by my family.

In the real world what I have invested in tools and my trainning costs compared to my humble up bringing is fair greater pound for pound than any land owner round here.

Of course there risk I have to comply with alot regs that farmers are still exempt for some many things eg tachos on there landrovers for towing livestock ,H@S is nothing but a joke .

    Working time directive etc.

So ther is alot of saving in agriculture .

    Regards OTH

  6. To pickup on some points may by you guys.

I have worked in the farming industry read my profile quite intresting reading for the intrested.

I said I would be and have aired my views with farmers I shoot for and have never lost any shooting for having my views very hard for a farmer to question my trail of thought stood next to 100k worth of motors and 500k worth of combine yes some do borrow money for tractors combines etc but some dont.

Until a few years ago you could access a websites to see the now fazed out subs one farmer in our area was getting £1.2 millions pounds a year for over 5 years for growning nowt.

I am not suffering from green eyed monster problem was just intrested in how your farmers are holding up in the current world.

As sometimes we all become blinkered and only intrested in shooting and whats happening to them can affect us and what happens to crops etc.

    Cheers for your views .

  7. I had to laugh yesterday at a radio 1 report on sucide and stress in young farmers in the uk.

They said that some only earn 8 k a year for sure some on a welsh hill farm might but not in oxfordshire when on average they spend that on a new truck each year.

I would give my right leg to have a farm passed on to me no morgage etc sell a bit of land if things get tight for cash very unlikely.

Now I do feel for anybody that is suffering from stress and feels that sucide is the only option ,but I dont know if the average farmer should feel this way .

Now if the report said farm workers it would be a complete diffrent view as they have a hard life with little reward .

I had a young farmer approach me for work the other day as he said money was tight :o .

He has just converted and sold 4 barn conversion for over £4 million pounds  .

I laughed, he said whats up, I said am I right in thinking you own your farm out right yes he replied and the four barns you sold I asked .

There was a short pause what you getting at ,well I said your asking me for work I pay roughly £100 a day and you have just sold four barns for over £4 million ,I cant see that you need the work myself .

He agreed I think that there is major problem in farmers trail of thought that farmers weekly etc convince farmers that they are overworked and hard done by.

I dont think so whats your thoughts.

I respect them and I have no problem airing my views with them face to face and have done on many occasions when I have heard them harping on about its a hard life.

    Regards OTH

  8. After yesterdays heavy rain here I had a quick spin round one of my perms close too home last night.

Found 200ish on some very tall rape stubble ,so finished work today quick brew and whizzed off with just a few deeks and no whirly.

Birds where there but not in numbers but as the evening wore on I knew I was in the wrong places so up sticks quickly.

The birds came in straight away a move is worth while even if its oly for 30mins as 30 mins in the right place is better than 30 mins in the wrong place.

I finished with 42 in two hours would have been 50 if I had got my recce right .

After last weeks action pack 3 ton bags and two weeks total of over 800 on a varied crops it was nice to have steady little shoot.

Lez is totally right in his reply but there maybe regional varations of crops, also he missed that dec you spend countless hours chasing hundreds of birds from one rape filed to another.

    Cheers OTH

50 are in boxes the other loose a few have slight rusting on the brass heads but fire OK have not been wet but just the brass/steel reacting to my leather gunbelt they where in.

Roughly £50 I want £25 to clear them out collection only and SGC holders from just outside of oxford.

    Cheers OTH

  12. I think once you go beyond 50 birds be it dead or deeks the area gets too busy for them to join at close range for you to be able to shot them.

Dont forget when feeding in there hundreds they can be spread out over a large area of the field what you are trying to get is the birds in the a kill zone.

    Regards OTH

  13. Woke up last night with a few strange noises I smelt trouble I kept the dogs quiet jumped the five bar gate and blow me four of the little darling screwdriver in ingnition barrel .

They legged it now the best bits phoned thames valley police office out within five minute arrest four lads within 1 mile of house .

  14. Once again this reminds me of my younger years struggling to get it right on diffcult days .

Nice to see you have fun and arnt farmers a pain when they come and mess your day up by picking the bales up etc.

Good see somebody talk some sense on the subject of 7.5s for woodies the forum bull gets on my nerves .

    Keep it up FM

    Cheers OTH

  15. There was a major lack of birds on my perms title the end of june then there was massive influx and over the last few days alot of young birds have come off the nest .

I was one of the forum members who was concerned over lack off birds after the winter and to some point IMO was right to keep it real over overshooting during the hardest period of the winter .

But the good old has amazed me and bounced back it will show over the next two months where national where we are in terms of pigeon numbers .

So ask the question come end of oct and I think you may get a more def answer.

    Regards OTH
