  1. As a general rule not 100% anything over 7 inchs in diameter round could need council permission not matter who owns it.

Also you have to be real careful using a chainsaw in gardens not owned by yourself do you have insurance to cover tree felling???.

But another option is just prune the tree and if you do fruit trees eg prunus is the only trees to be pruned in the summer june to august as they suffer from damage from cold so dont do it in the dormant season.

  2. 4 inchs of crushed concrete or scalping but before whack the sub soil and then wack the the crushed concrete/scalpings.

Then two inchs of concrete you will not need mesh and mix wise 7 bags of cement to 1 tonne bag of ballast .

    Regards OTH

  3. i hate to keep banging on about this oth, but i really cannot see how you could accuse anybody of being greedy in regards to pigeon shooting, when you are proud to keep telling us of your record bag of 561 pigeons. just a little bit of greed involved there if you ask me

I see that the mods have had enough of your childish poor informed posting and very unpolite PMs to pigeon watch members me included.

    Thank you Mods

    Kind regards OTH

  4. I would be much better than him Mark. One instance the fat shape managed to **** me off.I had the shooting of a pond where ducks and geese came in every night.Me and the old fella were in the ditch just as dark was coming down, when fat man came over and asked what we were doing on the ground. Not knowing who he was at the time,i asked if he worked for the farmer, and he replied no,so i just said we have permission. He then wandered about on the edge of the pond, and then went over to his jeep which was on the marching farm, turned it round to face the pond and turned the lights on.He was very close to getting his lights put out.I phoned the farmer later and mentioned the douchebags name and was told he had already been told to stay off the ground.Next meeting, same farm but after roe.Fud face has the shooting in a wood marching and again just coming down dark,i downed a buck.I had the knife out and was gralloching, when the muppet came storming up,realised it was me with a knife in my hand, and had a sudden change of heart."Big buck" were his words as he nearly ran past.Inbetween the two times i had followed him home once, and he just sat in the motor and wouldnt get out.Hes the kind that gives guides a bad name, and i dont know one other person local who wouldnt like to see some kind of misfortune occuring to him.Personally,i know he has heart problems,so i live in hope. :D

Once had a local pigeon guide no names who turned up at my field drove accross the drilling stopped in the middle of my pattern got out and pick up two birds and shouting dont mind if I have these do you lad.

Then put a guy less than 100 yards away using my two birds for the whirly and then when to woods a mile behind and shot the hell out the birds the woods has never recovered and the birds are still wary two years on.

I only found out who he was this year and he no longer shoots the ground as the farmer lease expried and was not renewed due to this guides actions on the ground that was my last day on that land as I dont share with this type of shooter.

I have now regained the sole shooting rights as the landowner has aways had a strict no sundays policy which the guide did not do.

    Regards OTH

  5. I think the hard truth is there is a awful lot of cowboys shooting at pigeons thats what has made them wary .

Read M Robsons Post ref in sporting picture somewhere only 180ish birds for some 600ish shots now that sort of cartridge to kill ratio is going to spook the hell out of the birds shot at and not killed.

Then read another post do you think pigeons guides are greeby and the birds on that day where unwilling to play it no wonder if they have endured that sort of shooting.

    Kind Regards OTTH

  6. I agree the lifesaver is good but in 15 years of riding high performance bikes I have never been shocked to find a car in my blind spot when doing a lifesaver.

Why I am normally going faster than most things and I also ride looking in my mirrors nearly as much as looking forward for that vanishing point or child waiting to step out .

If a car manages to creep into your blind spot on a motorway etc I think you need take more glances in your mirrors if you cant do both your riding to fast for your skill level and I would back off till your grasp this skill.

    Kind regards OTH

  7. After just drying out all my gear from yesterday set out lunch time bright with a nice cool wind.

Just picked up a new small bit of permission where he got 30 acres of OSR during the snow the birds where wacking this field as it was quite high and stuck above the snow.

One side is blessed with a mix of oak and ash trees which the birds sit in and the gwr railway line along side it.

The birds where pulling over the railway line and turning back into the wind lovely for about 3 hours then it hissed down got soaking wet again .

Pickup with 60 in the bag well chuffed luckly the missus is away so got all my gear in the front room drying out infront of the fire .

    Kind regards OTH

  9. Just a quick update on pigeon numbers in oxon wilts and a bit of glouscestershire .

We do not have the massive amount on any of my permissions that normally we have.

The rape is growing strong there is drilling on any real size with plenty still to be done .

Today I started off 1100hrs was soaking wet by 1300hrs went home for a brew dried off dropped merlin home .

Had a stroll up a belt of woods 200 or so moved out but none returned for a 30mins but as the evening went on a nice stream of birds made there way up the thin belt against the wind.

This the first time in nearly 3 months the wind has blown down the strip as it has been blowing up it from the east /north.

Keeping the birds low heading homeward finished with 19 and last bird dropped at 1915hrs roll on spring /summer .

I still had all my winter gear on in the picture you can see my gear drying out from the morning.

    Keep at it boys OTH

But after two weeks the ground had dried and massive cracks appeared in the clay and the birds had there heads down the cracks like ostritch picking the chitting beans out it was amazing to see.
