  2. I have only once shot a large bag in hissing rain it was on spring rape in early june right next to the swindon honda plant .

I picked well over 180 lost alot in the high rape but that is the only time but I am a dry weather shooter like I am on the bike.

I had just had a cracking roost shoot with a very strong west wind blowing and shot until 1930hrs.

I love it when the clocks go forward gives you a chance in the afternoon.

  3. If you havent got the tickets you dont work full stop on forestry commission land

Where in the thread starter post does it quote forestry commission land I know they wont but I was repling to the oringnals post .

I am only asking the thread starter if it is in the agriculture field line of work there is all sorts of exemptions if his job offer is for a agricultre employer.

    Not a commerical logger

    Kind regards OTH

  4. not too sure about that, most workers now have tickets for certainly chainsaws and tele handlers at minimum. If you're an employee that has an accident the HSE still descend hard on the employer

    Hi al4x

You will amazed by what farmers are exempt from no tacho needed on there ifor williams trailers when ever other transport employer needs to as soon as you hookup a trailer no matter what size if it business use you should have a tacho be it tree surgeon or builder but is a real grey area for the police.

Just go onto the HSE website for chainsaw usage and you will see there are exempt from training for chainsaws.

    Kind regards OTH

  5. You are not allowed to operate it without the the qualification , the days of heres your machine get on with it are long gone ,

As The harvester is a 360 deg excavator with a harvesting head , i believe its actually 2 qualifications required to operate

Not 100% correct as agriculture employers are exempt from pretty much ever qualifcation ever invented so if you are emlpoyed for agri work you dont need a ticket for chainsaw use etc etc.

    Regards OTH

  6. I would dig out 200mm of soil wack the sub soil then 100mm of hardcore or scalping wack that then 100mm concrete.

Make sure you tamp the concrete well to expell as much air as poss to gain max strength.

As said 7 bags of cement and one tonne of ballast.

    Kind regards OTH

  7. As for Overthehill, he said that anyone commenting to this thread should state their salary and perks. Yes, you are right I have not provided that information, however nor has he!

The reason for that I have not be complaining about there actions I have a good income with the perks of self employment being quality of life and banlance between pleasure and work.

As for I cant say what my salary is because I am self employed what rubbish if you have been doing it for 28 years you must know what you have earned when doing your tax returns.

I find it hard to come to terms with directors and managers saying there staff have got a good deal so wind your necks in and get back to work.

When they are have 6 figure salarys and mega bonuses .

    Regards OTH

  8. Sorry OTH, but your argument holds no water at all. We are all entitled to our opinion of the BA strike, no matter what we earn and no matter what our perks are.

John r I have no reason to question yours or others right to opinions but I think if you have have a well paid job with perks it just makes it rich .

After the uproar of MPs expenses by the uk tax payers if some of the MPs came on here saying the BA workers have no right to strike and get back to work you over paid lot you should have a hard life like us MPs would you think that was right.

    Kind regards OTH

  9. That might be your opinion, but I feel it is irrelevant and adds nothing to the discussion.

However, just so you don't think I am shirking your question, I get no salary, I am self employed so I "get" whatever I can afford to take out, and right now in the current climate that is not a lot. The perks are that I get to go shooting/fishing on a week day if time permits.

Of course its relevant the thread starter is in teaching profession on 40kish and we all know that they get more holidays than 4 weeks a years standard .

I think it just a bit rich having a pop at fellow workers if you yourself are on a good wage and perks.

Where if you are on a low income with rubbish terms then by all means you got a good reason to question strikers.

As it happens the thread starters terms and wage has been protected by a union if you are a union member or not be it in teaching nurseing you wil get the wage increase and terms that the union has won for them.

And when a union agrees a wage increase you dont seen all the none union members saying I dont want that wage rise do you :good: they just take it even if they dont agree with the unions stance two faced if you ask me.

I am also self employed it my choice like yours .

    Kind regards OTH

  10. Willie is in the same boat as Adam croizer at royal mail 2 million pound golden handshake and completely ruined our postal service.

Rubbish at the FA and royal mail and now ITV his wage alone was 30000 postmans/womans wages for a year .

    Regards OTH

  11. The use of cards sounds great and I dont want to knock yours as it looks good.

But I feel they have only a real use for contact once you have gained permmission and trust of the landowner from face to face contact.

Going back years was usefull but with ever farmer have a mobile phone once you have made contacted all my farmer have my number on there mobile for 24/7 contact.

I dont want to to put you off but are you paying to have them printed and if so how many etc.

    Regards OTH

  12. We where one of the first to grow linseed on a trial in the late 80s we planted it on top of some chalk downs.

The seed showed up well on the pure white soil which I think it made it easy for the birds to find.

It was where I shot my first hundred bag then and for only about two years we had some good bags on drilling and then about when it was two weeks old and then harvest.

I have lots of lenseed but have not shot any it in over 10 years due to the lack of intrest by the birds .

    Regards OTH

  13. Pete

Pigeons and muddy fields dont go together thats why they will be pitching into the trees.

They will wait until the field drys out also they know the peas will not disappear unless you got lots of crows/rooks on the field.

How many did you dad get two days before as a general rule two days rest is not enough even on peas but they are rare times when I have shot a field three times in a week on peas but its is rare.

Regards and keep at it OTH

  14. i guess these recent big bags are blowing your theory out of the water that the pigeon population took a pasting in the winter then.

I thought you asked too be banned Michael why dont you leave this site once and for all .

I changed you name to the correct spelling Michael as I dont like to offened yourself unlike you who likes to take the Michael out of everbody .

  15. Seems like the obvious thing to do really doesn't it? Only problem I can see is mr farmer could then run his car on the farm diesel and just pretend his tractor is a little less economical than it really is? Who's to know how many laps of the field he's done? These big modern tractors drink enough fuel in a day to run a car for a month!

For that reason I think it's a great idea!

I also think it great many happy cheaper miles in the defender now yipeeeeeeeee

    OTH
