    Redmeat

My dad died of Cancer - funny thing isn't it? I took him down to the pub and he walked in and shouted "I've been diagnosed - I've got AIDS!" I said "Dad, you've not got AIDS - you've got Cancer" He said "Shuddup, I don't want anyone sleeping with your mother when I've gone!" On a serious note, my Dad did die of prostate and secondary bone cancer. After much searching and reading I drew the conclusion that Cancer is not hereditary but your diet and lifestyle is. So, if you smoke, you've got an increased chance of developing lung cancer. Cancer is when a cell mutates. It is normally caused when the acid level increases or if there is an abnormal neighbour. So, if you eat too much red meat, it takes ages to digest in the stomach and colon. If it doesn't get digested then it will putrify - rot. What happens to an apple if it sits next to a rotting neighbour? It rots too! The ideas is that if you have rotting meat sitting next to a stomach wall then the wall will start to rot and we call it Cancer. So, I hardly ever eat beef anymore. In fact I stay away from mass produced meats when ever I can. Supermarket bacon for instance - you get a meal and a drink in the same pan! I eat venison - I like my deer stalking - and other game as and when. If not, then I use our local butcher who is superb. RTD
  2. I'll be there on the Friday. Complete with wife, mother in law and 2 ankle biters. I'll also be taking the dog for a bit of company. RTD
  3. Good old Frank. We've always said that, haven't we? Need anyone to drive your van? RTD
  4. If this is on your computer then may I recommend Spysweeper and Symantec antivirus software. When you lose your data, you realise that it was going to have been worth the money. Keep well and virus free RTD
  5. Or, if you want to get oil into him, you could try cod liver - already mentioned - or Udo's oil (a type of flax seed which is v.good) or good old olive oil. Most modern foods are missing most things. dogs were not born to eat biscuits! RTD
  6. I've got a dummy round for my .308 and one for the 6.5x55 where the flash hole is able to take a rod which pushed the bullet out of the brass. Stick the case in the chamber and gently push the round out until it touches the lands. This I find is how it should be. Having said that, some bullets like a little jump and some like to be touching. I use dead soft loads anyway and find that the accuracy improves because of it. As for a hot barrel, not only will your accuracy go up the wall - more so if it is a worn or dirty barrel, but inconsistancies appear. Fully agree with taking your time, groups are more important than bulls and when you've got it blob on, let it cool for about 10 minutes and then put one where it should be. RTD
  7. If you can't get what you're looking for, have a look at an AL390. I've had one for years and can say that without doubt, that it's the best shotgun that I've ever owned. Shoots anything, never jams, cleaning auto's is a pain but that's auto's for you. Good for rabbits and clays. Brill on a skeet range. Take it anywhere, shoot anything shotgun. RTD
  8. My dog - another Lab - got this for a while as well. If a human got dandruff then one of the probable causes is too much yeast in the system. A person would remove as much yeast and sugar from their diet, in all of it's many forms, take Caprylic acid with a digestive compound and it should clear up. Dandruff is a symptom of Candida Albicans which lives in an acid environment, in the gut and loves yeasts and sugars. If this is true - and I used to suffer from candida - then check what's in the gravy. Maybe you take this out of the diet for a bit and get something like bio-kult for your dog - you can find it on the net. I tried different types of foods and now give my girl the cheapest from Cost-co and the scrapes off the plates. Little darling is at my feet as I type. Dandruff and bad breath gone. Keep well RTD
  9. To get permission for expanding ammo, write down that you want it for rabbit and other vermin control. As far as I know, target shooting is not a good enough reason for expanding anymore. Put down vermin control. As for the moderators - supressors on your ticket - state that it is for reasons of health and safety. There is another thread on this website concerning this one but if you put H & S then they can't refuse you. RTD
  10. Have you got a website for Pelpax? I've tried all sorts of combinations and can't find it. RTD
  11. Quite agree! 'Trigger and response', they call it. Rewarded behaviour will be repeated. RTD
  12. A little bit more power makes it fly a little flatter. All other things being equal, that is. The power limit was agreed and set from a legal perspective, it has nothing to do with stopping power or accuracy. RTD
  13. I had a dog that did this and never cured it. I did learn a few lessons though. I worked out that the dog does not like to be on her own. She is barking for attention and wants to be with you - which is commendable, she loves you. Cold showers, water pistols, electric collars, scoldings, beratings and beatings will do nothing but harm. You've got the right association for a really good dog that wants to please you. Remember that she is only 17 weeks old. Perhaps you should spend some time in the garden with her in the pen. Read the paper, mow the lawn - that kind of thing. Dogs learn nothing in a pen. RTD
  14. Hi Rob and Dexon Your Point-blank range of 35 yards and mine of 60 are actually about the same. You are zero'd on the way up, me on the way down. As I have a range finder and a 100 yard strip of garden, me thinks I'll make some targets up - "C'mon kids, eat those cornies!" - and move myself up and down the garden on the same strip. As you say, calculated is not the same as the real world. Thanks RTD
  15. My Baretta that I really do like is my AL390 semi-auto. Should be marketed as the never-miss shotgun! Not really looked at a 687. I find the 682 a tad clumsy. Have you tried a 686? RTD
  16. Try the makers them selves. Either Hull Cartridge or Gamebore. RTD
  17. And i've been beaten to it. I was going to ask "How did you get the healthy bunny to pose on the seat of your car?" RTD
  18. My Brother-Out-Law has taken a fancy to my 682 Gold E and wants to buy mine. It's only had about 1500 through it and is in A1 condition. And, to tell the truth, I should have got an 686 instead as I do a bit of game as well as clays. 682 is a bit non-game, if you follow my meaning. so, the question that I would like to put to the panel is - if you've got a 686 which one have you got and what do you think of it? New models - Silver Pigeon 2 and Onyx - only apply and I'm 6' 2"! Thanks for the help! RTD
  19. I've got a nightforce 3-24x56 on my .308 and the quality is superb. At the price, it should be but there is a fair amount of fiddling with the parallax sidewheel. RTD
  20. Why do I zero out so far? On a sunny day, I can see the pellet arcing up and then back down through the line os sight. The theory is that if you have your second crossing point further out then the curve will be flatter. It should be dropping by the time it goes through your second point. Ballistic nonsense, I suppose. Unless someone knows better/different RTD
  21. I've got some Eley Wasp and somebodyorothers Magnums - green tin gathering dust. The wasps are OK but they arc like mad. Even when zero'd out to 60m. I'll try the heavier magnums and let you know RTD
  22. Going for a pint? RTD
  23. I've got Meopta down as the best in the business. Well built, clear optics, good price.
  24. Dear all Moderators - ask for Health ans safety and they can't refuse you. That's a fact. No evidence, but it's a fact. Land that I'm on is a golf course that has been shot before, with a clay club on the far end. Next to a landing strip. Paper work has already gone off to Officer Dibble. Gawd help me! Air rifle was out last night and it was hard work. If I was pulling a golf trolley 'round in the middle of the day then you can get within 3 yards of the *******. No golf bag, green jacket and a suspicious long bangy thing (with a mod, of course but you get the picture) and they are off. And they can see you coming from at least 150yards. Thanks for all your advice and it looks like the Weihrauch for me as I am 6' 2" tall with a 48 inch chest and little rifles and me don't get on. As for the Ammo in the states, I flew back from Phoenix and had no problem. It bullets for reloading, brass and primers. Goes in the hold, you have your FAC with you at all times, you declare it nicely to the right person. Don't pick on a trainee who is going to get all hysterical - it is contaigous. Ask to speak to the shift Supervisor or equivalent. I also explained that you need propellant to make it all work - little bit of bullsh*t and I said that's it's entirely up to you with where it goes. Funny enough, I brought a Nightforce scope home with me as well as a McMillan stock - they're made in Phoenix and are dirt cheap. In comparison. The stock I could carry on board but the scope had to go in the hold as "It looks like it might go on a rifle"... Strange folk them yankees. Final point. If you are on your jollies and get the chance to bring home some ammo, always check it out with the airline first and get permission in writing. Or, you've got 1000 rounds, your're in the airport and some jobsworth says 'No'... RTD
  25. Dear all Thanks for your comments, although it turned into a pellet conversation rather than a FN19 one. I've got some bisley magnums in a tin. I'll go and give them a go. I was on the golf course last night and it's a long walk for 3 rabbits. Compared to my centre fire rifles, the scope is bobbins. I think it's time to get the wallet out... Cheers all RTD
