I use both ways - one of the benefits of paunching (squeezing)is that there isn't an opening for the flies etc. to get to; I mainly use this in the warmer weather and gutting them when its colder and flies aren't a problem. I agree about the superman grip but I lay them across my knee for the final squeeze and its a lot easier G

I use a Tikka M55 with a 1:9 twist, pvi 55g bullets. I am limited to the distance I shoot foxes due to footpaths and safe backstops on my permissions but the rifle will go hell of a lot further - I just don't have the opportunity. HPH

I purge them in water for a day, rinse & cook for 4 minutes then let stand in the water for 10 minutes. Once shelled and cleaned up they taste just like prawns. I've used them in salads with a Marie rose sauce; homemade scampi and the next lot I get I'm going to do a curry with them. I guess the colder weather is having an impact on the size of the catches as they don't appear to be as active as in July. HPH
