  1. It never occurred to me I would use mine in low light. I range in when I'm zeroing but then I have favourite shooting spots on my land so during daylight I have ranged various banks, bluffs and hedgerows and ballpark it from there. Having said that, I'm mainly bunny shooting and its kind predictable I guess!
  2. Dont think your going to achieve that with a £200 range finder mate! I think your gonna need much better quality!
  3. This one will ping off just about anything. Not like a tree branch at 150 yards but anything you can firmly fix on it will range accurately. In fact when the guy in the shop was showing me it was pinging a good 200 yards beyond what it said it did on the packet. Completely wasted on me to be honest as I dont shoot anything over 200 yards!
  4. I'm not familar with Howa but I see at my local gunsmith you can almost custom build the rifle and there are some very interesting stocks to be had! I had 223 REM in my head but the Howa is a good looking gun. You finding it accurate and general solid? Any down sides to it?
  5. I've got the older version of this one. It does what its supposed too and Ive always found it very accurate! http://www.guns.gb.com/redfield-range-find...50-17901-0.html Cock all use once the sun gets low but thats why you pay more than double for better makes
  6. Thanks chaps. Food for thought!
  7. I guess there might be various answers to this question but if you are used to shooting .17HMR and .22 and want something to 'legally' go after a fox with, whats the best option? I'm never likely to want to shoot anything bigger. The chance to shoot a fox is rare so ideally not looking to spend mega bucks and I dont want to go overkill with some monster calibre! Any thoughts or recommendations based on what you guys currently use?
  8. Give us a shout when you do mate. It seems anything half decent ie want to buy it is out of stock on that MOD site!
  9. Now that is a brilliant website! Cheers mate
  10. I work in an office so I'm usually suited and booted but when I went out for a mooch on my permission at lunchtime there were shed loads of maggys, big crows and pigeons just sitting around. Its almost like they new I wasn't tooled up and they just sat there!! I wonder how safe, realistic it would be to stick my .22 rifle in the boot and do a half hour while I'm mooching! I'm not sure of the law when it comes to storing a rifle in a car. Its a secure work carpark but even so. When it comes to shot guns I've always be told if you leave it in your car to break it and take the forend but thats probably an urban myth! In a similar fashion I could take out the bolt!
  11. Are there any recommended sites for buying ex MOD stuff. I fancy a tank!!!!! I mean a camo net!!!!!! Maybe a tank later on!
  12. Thats interesting. Mine are usually all within a 20ft radius in a rough diamond, aither side of a pigeon decoy setup but I'll give that a go and see if it alters things!
  13. I've got a 70 30 mix of stubble and rape on my permission now. I can only get on to the land after lunch each day and I know from experience it goes quiet at lunch so as a reccy its never the best. Anyway been out to take a look today and theres a dozen small groups of woodies and crows, mostly on the stubble. The rape was sown about 2 to 3 weeks ago and is 1 to 3 inches high. At what stage of growth do the woodies start to take a proper interest in this rape growth? I thought it would be teeming by now!
  14. I have one of my cabinets in a cellar and damp has always been a problem. First thing I got was one of the napier gel pouches, which definitely helped but then I got a special cloth to give all metal parts the once over before storing. I cant remember the name of them but there are these little clothes you get impregnated with some kind of formulae that protects against moisture. Silica clothes maybe. They were about £5 look like a duster and I bought 2 about 2.5 years ago and am still on the first one. They feel a bit greasy and when you give your gun a quick rub with them it puts a thin coat of whatever the formulae is on your gun. This combo has always worked very well for me.
  15. Ah right, obvious now I think of it. A cut down gun sock would be perfect!
  16. I'm looking now and I cant find it bu tthen the search facility doesn't seem to hot on it! Got a link?
  17. Yeah OK. As the bloke above suggested, I've toying with getting one that is advertised for a double barrelled gun but I think thats still a bit on the tight side and I woul dneed 2 for the length of the barrel. I'm thinking finding someone to custom make it and if you want one as well, its bound to be cheaper! Just finding someone to custom make it now!!
  18. I'm trying to source or create a camo moderator cover for my Mossberg 500 Hushpower. Its a bit of a monster can to be sticking out of a hide at woodies and I hate tape because I always make a cock of wrapping it! Anyone every made anything or found a something that would cover it, like an oversized moderator rifle mod cover os something?
  19. Yeah just bounced the prices you guys have been quoting off him and he says 25p a pigeon and 60p a bunny as it is with an hour or 2 of shooting so about right I guess!
  20. Yeah good. Just checking. Ive always done this and as Ive shot clays with this butcher, I kinda leave that part to him. More often than not I'm out in the Freelander and dont really want that kind of hassle in the field!
  21. I've always been told you can do it within an hour or two depending on the weather. Would you disagree with that?
  22. A local butcher has approached me to source him some pigeon and bunnies. What are you guys selling yours for at the moment to give me a ballpark figure? I intend to supply them all freshly shot so nt gutted or dressed in anyway.
  23. Yeah it appealed to me because you could sit infront of the TV and start the process off by preparing your shells ready for the next process. I wonder if he has plans to do any other hand held devices for the reloading process
